More can play PG which we have none of besides Paul. Plus he is a vet who is not going to turnover the ball.

Moore is just and example of bad player playing too much minutes.
Jalen could play some Nader, Cam, Crowder o Bridges minutes. Yesterday we played with Moore, Galloway, Nader, Bridges and Frank for a while, hasn't he got place in that moment?

Smith should have played more while Dario was out and Frank was not playing so well...just instead of Frank sometimes instead of next to him. But there were times Nader wasn't playing well or was out of control where he could have played.

But sometimes matchups dictate it. He would typically only play when a team played 2 bigs. Nader can guard a wing type PF better right now.

It doesn't seem like he will play much this year, especially if he didn't get much time with Saric out, because Saric will probably be back for the next one.

Don’t get me wrong I think he needs more minutes just can’t really compare to Moore who plays a different position. I think over Nader , Kaminsky most definitely also to me he looks a little nervous so far and try’s a little to hard/forces it. Really would like him to get 5 to 7 minutes with Paul a night. Defensively looking very fluid and is in the right place, only bad is falling for veteran tricks but they will get better with minutes. When book is back would love a running line up after Paul subs out.

Pg: Payne
Sg: Booker
Sf: Bridges
PF:Johnson = coming in off the bench
C: Jalen

I'd like to see him play more, but Dario will definitely be playing ahead of him. But if Crowder or Cam or Bridges get injured I wouldn't mind slotting him in with Dario instead of Nader depending on matchups.

We've assigned him to the Cavs G-league team. Made his debut last night - made 5 of 6 from 3 for 15 points, 6 rebs and 3 assists.

Probably because we've gotten a couple guys back. Or, I wonder if it means we are expecting more reinforcements soon

My first thought is a kind of big health problem. I wish to be wrong.

It's gotta be a health (physical/mental) thing if it isn't coach's place to say anything. I just hope it's nothing too serious

Yeah… Odd statement from Williams. I suspect there’s something wrong with the dude.... in a John Shumate-ish way.

I agree with this take cause if it was something criminal, Smith would of had his last three games as DNP instead of playing 3-5 min vs Warriors, Pels & Pistons. Either way hope we find out this week.

Was scrolling twitter and saw on Feb 12th Monty was praising Smith's hard work. Kind of odd just 3 days later he's inactive.

You know, it could also be nothing to do with Smith and could be a family emergency type deal. Monty probably wouldn't want to disclose that or any details about it until Smith was ready. Just trying to look at all possibilities.

Hopefully it's just him being sent to the Gleague, a move that would make sense to get reps and get his conditioning back to game shape.

Hopefully it's not covid lingering issues.

Ty-shon's stroke is really nice. I hope we hang on to him for the next couple of years on a cheap deal. He won't crack the rotation this year, but he'll have a chance next year given that both Galloway and Moore are on 1 year deals. There's also the possibility that he could make Carter expendable some way down the line. I love Carter's infectious D, but he's been almost unplayable on offense this year with his shot not falling at all. I'm wondering now if we didn't overpay him giving him almost 4 million a year. In any case, Carter's contract is the sort that could come into play if we're making a trade somewhere down the line, and that's where someone like Ty-shon could really get the opportunity.

Lots of teams have found some really nice rotation pieces out of late 2nd rounders or undrafted rookies, so I hope that we explore this avenue thoroughly as well. Player development is something we need to emphasize to build a good long-term winning culture.

Yeah, I thought Carter would get a minimum at most. He would be a nice minimum guy to round out a deep roster but not a guy that takes up more space than that. I know some thinks he was well worth it.

I think Ty-Shon may have a chance as our future PG if he can convert, but could be nice next to Booker as a guy who can play on/off. I know those who watched him in college are very high on him. One guy came to our board after the draft and said he thought he was better than Anthony Edwards coming out.

I think he may end up giving Payne some competition at the PG spot (though we will need to re-sign Payne before that). I think Payne should get kind of a Carter deal, though being that I think Carter should have gotten the minimum, that's basically saying Payne should get more than that. I'd outbid other teams for him, unless it gets up over something like 3/17, but I don't think many teams need PGs and there are a bunch in the draft...I might try and give him a prove it contract, like 2/11 with a team option.

I think we need to watch our space for the 2022 offseason and think we should have only signed Crowder and Carter to 2 year deals to expire when Paul does...though maybe that would prevented us getting Crowder.

It would be nice to have that Payne 2 year with a team option in 2nd so next year we could let Ty-Shon compete against him.

I do also think Payne might take a little less to stay with us due to him liking it here, us giving him a chance, and if we are the only team to give him an offer, he might jump at even a small one after also making decent money on a couple years on his rookie deal and then not making too much at all the last few year...making $2-3 million a year or so, for anyone, is a nice chunk of change.

Cool, not sure why Monty couldn't/didn't just say that last night. Good move because as I stated earlier he needs reps and live game action. Unlike years past this suns team arent in a position just to play him to develop.
