Why is Tatum still out?

Dang Tatum must have had it worse than Rob. I thought they said Rob had a tough bout but he missed one game after being cleared (I think). Don't rush Tat back but I'm scared and -WORDS- COVID!!

I'm pretty sure he would be playing if we didn't have a game the next day. He will probably play Monday.

My guess would be that Kemba plays Sunday and rests on Monday. Tatum misses 1 more game on Sunday and then plays on Monday. I haven't heard that yet, but it seems logical.

We sure hope so. It would be so depressing otherwise.

For what its worth a mild calf strain has a 1 to 2 week recovery, a moderate calf strain a 3-6 week recovery. A complete tear of the calf (a strain is a tear) is a multiple month recovery.

You can see it pop. Achilles or a torn calf.

Not sure if anyone else saw Perk in the post game show saying he’s seen this type of injury before with Thabo. Abby asked how long it took Thabo to recover and Perk said he was out for 6 weeks but never really came back to his normal self. After that they basically had to mute Perk and change the subject because he was pressing the worst case scenario. Brutal.

Hope the MRI is ok but the video sure looks like a calf tear.

One thing I know for sure is that Thoba Sefolosha is no Marcus Smart.

FWIW To me that looks like a torn calf muscle which happened to me twice actually.
It feels like someone hits you on the back of a leg with a pebble and a few seconds later it becomes pretty painful.

When I went to the ER they immediately ruled out an Achilles tear because they did a motion check. They clearly did that to smart as well and if it was an achilles we would have known about it already. First time I did it though I was on crutches for a month and couldn't play for 2 months.

Second time I did it it wasn't nearly as bad. I didn't go the doctors that time. I don't know how much time I missed because I was not in a hurry to get back on the court but I'd be surprised if he isn't out at least a month.

I'm pretty sure it's the calf from the direction of the kinetic energy after the pop, but with all that movement it has to be a significant tear. I'm guessing he's out for a few months and we'll be lucky if he's right for the playoffs.
