Doumbouya should only play as a center

Post#1 » by JohnReese » Sun Jan 31, 2021 5:28 pm

We have seen enough of his game to realize that he is too slow to play the 3 or the 4. I can only see him developing as a center with a game similar to Looney. They both share similar characteristics. Looney used to play the 3 and the 4 in college but the Warriors realized that this was not an option in the league.

His ball-handling is a drama and lacks defensive instincts. On the other hand, he is good on the offensive rebound and I like his shooting mechanic.

If we insist on developing him as SF/PF he is gonna end up out of the league really soon. His case makes me think about Ellenson.

I wish he proves me wrong but it does not look promising.

I still maintain he's a energetic 4 than the 3 he's been playing as. Not sure on the current minutes distribution by his played position, but I'm fairly certain he's been playing as a 3 more than 4.

Until I see a full season of him playing the 4 with more than 25+ minutes, I don't want to write him off

I'm not seeing Sekou as a center. Not now, not ever.

Seku is a 4 as I have said for a while. He needs to develop his shot, work on foot speed and learn defensive schemes better. This guy should be in the G-League bubble of the Pistons won’t give him any serious minutes.

I think he should eventually be are backup 4 and 5 whenever Plumlee is moved, and we can move Stewart to start. He’s basically still a rookie, he’s played probably close to 50 games with NBA players, he only played one summer league game, and shortened preseason. He’s doomed to not meet are expectations, I compare this to Dimmwiddie, just because of the way he broke into the league, His first start was against D Rose, he had like 20 and 10 and basically hit a game winning shot, he then did very little for a year and a half and we gave up on him, seems like the way we’re heading with Sekou
