1) Jokic, best playing level, hasn't missed a game, decent record
2) Embiid (missed 5 games, he's the closest to jokic as far as individual level, dominant scoring, good rebounding and defense, best record in the east)
3) Kawhi (missed 4 games, best record in the league after utah, classic kawhaian two way level: not the most eye-gaugging statline you'll ever see (26/5/5), but 62 TS% and all-defensive caliber defense)
4) Lebron (no missed games, respectable defense, easily top 10 as far as level of play, probably not top 5)
5) Giannis (no improvements, underwhelming team record, the guy still puts up 28/11.5/5.5 on 60 TS% and dpoy caliber defense)
6) Pg (missed 3 games, amazing scoring efficiency, I just see him do too little compared to other mvp candidates, even tho he has 5.5 assists he doesn't create much, not much of a leader etc, still amazing scorer/shooter and defender, and he also has decent rebounds/assists numbers)
7) KD Doncic Curry. Durant still playing like the #1 scorer in the league, 31 ppg on 65,5 TS%, but has an underwhelming record, missed 6 games and he doesn't really affect games other than his scoring, Doncic is still a 30-10-10 machine (he's at 27.5/9.5/9.5 rn) but he's been shooting terrible on high volume from 3 and his team is at 12-8, curry could be higher but I just don't hear much talk about him, his offense is still goat level and he's carrying a trash team to a positive record. could see him as high as 4th tbh

Its jokic and embiid.
If the 76ers stay top 3 seed, and nuggets get to the top 3 seed in the west, itll be those two battling it out

Unless luka or curry or someone that's the lone star gets their team to the top 3 seed.

If KD, KL, or lebron finishes with a record slightly ahead of jokic or embiid, i will have to punish them for having star teammates. Nets, clipps, lakers have to separate from the rest for those guys to get mvp considerations

Jokić and Embiid first two for me so far. But we all knew ESPN hype train for LeBron will be tough to overcome. '18th season, 36 years old' bla bla bla.

Embiid can’t be mvp if he doesn’t play 70%. My vote goes to Jokic.

But all NBA teams
Davis first team all nba center cause the NBA voters love Davis as center.

Lol

Jokic cause everyone forgets about him is 3rd team all nba despite winning nba mvp.

Make it happen.

Trust me, nobody on the Nuggets is playing at ‘star level’. If Jokic wasn’t there, they’d currently be chilling with the likes of the Wizards and Wolves in the basement.

Embiid has missed a quarter of his team's games so far. If he misses a quarter of a season (as he typically does), can you really award him the MVP?

LeBron is having his worst season since his Rookie year and the 2nd worst season of his career numbers wise.

Why on earth this guy is in the MVP conversation is beyond me.

That's an interesting twist on it - but I don't think that's how it really works.

Genuinely - have there been any/many winners who've won despite missing a quarter of their team's games?

Bill Walton won Mvp playing 58 games. They were 50-8 with him which is a 70 win pace and 8-16 without him.

But thats peak Walton which Embiid is nowhere near and the field for Mvp wasnt near as deep as it is now. And the voting for Bill was still very very close. With the seasons Jokic, Bron, Kawhi, Kd and lesser extent Dame, Steph, Luka, Trae etc are having its not gonna be there for him if he misses 15+ games

because previous season is not counted on how you become an mvp.

My point is, if you have superstar teammates, you are going to have to have a monster season to win MVP in spite of that.

Hes not, and hes having one of his worst. With so many other players having much better seasons then him, with less talent surrounding them. He should not even be considered for MVP.

This is why we look beyond PPGZ, you realize the only reason Lebron's numbers are down is that he is playing the fewest minutes in his career right? He also affecting outside the boxscore, this shown as he blowing everyone out of the water in RAPM outside of McCollums mini hot streak.

Lebron is in the Conversation for MVP because 1. Most impactful player in the NBA 2. Strong record 3. Narrative.

AD took the Lakers from lottery to title. You gonna just skip over that and act like thats nothing? LeBron is not carrying scrubs. Hes far from the player he once was. Where do you think the Lakers would be this season without AD? They wouldnt even be in the top 6.

You cant have another player that good and still be in the running for MVP. Which is one of the reasons why he wont win. Though the narrative during the season is interesting.

Jokic heading into the (previous seasons) Giannis zone in the MVP tracker:
