Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
I assume theres no way we could make a competitive offer for Beal that wouldn't completely gut the team, but he is exactly what this roster needs. Rozier + Monk + Bridges or PJ + multiple 1sts would probably be the most they could offer and that would probably get outbid.
Melo/Graham
Beal/Martin2
Hayward/Martin1
Miles or PJ/McDaniels
Cody/Biz
Starting lineup is pretty damn good, but the bench is awful.

Kemba would probably be an easier get, if we were willing to take on the money and if he can play off ball with Ball

Beal is really really good, but his numbers are inflated in my mind. Dude shoots 6 more shots per game than anyone else in the league. I would honestly make a run at Lavine or CJ before Beal because they probably cost half what Beal will cost and they are probably 90% just as good. All three are suspect on defense too so its not like Beal is a better defender than those 2.
Beal 26.1 fga, 35.4 ppg
McCollum 20 fga, 26.7 ppg
Lavine 18.5 fga, 27 ppg

Offer for Lavine? who says no.
Graham, Rozier and our first this year top 4 Protected for Lavine and Arcidiacono.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
Seems like Warriors might be shopping Oubre because they are likely not bringing him back next year. He makes 14 Million this year and has a cap hold of 21 Million. Do we have any interest in bringing him in for this year and seeing if he meshes? He is really good at getting deflections and really good in open court so he might be a natural fit playing with LaMelo.
Rozier for Oubre and Looney.
They get a more consistent shooter, which they desperately lack right now, and Rozier is under contract next year so they don't have to worry about resigning him.

How good does that make this team? Like are we maybe 2 wins better and without a future lottery 1st?

Yeah it would be more of a move for the future.
Lock in Ball-Lavine-Hayward-Bridges- PJ- 30 Million in cap space this summer.

I wouldn't even offer that. Beal is not a two way player

Love the idea of adding Lavine, and prefer him as a target over Beal.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
We are as likely to make a deal for Beal as we are Donavan Mitchell.
It’s really something how Boston fans want to unload Kemba after just one season. He wouldn’t even be a fit for us anymore and it’s mostly because of his contract. My how times change.

He has 1 year left on his deal after this year, then he will get a massive payday. They are not sold on the combo of Lauri/WCJ and seems like they might end up trading one. Coby White is a horrible horrible defender so him and Lavine do not match well. Patrick Williams is looking solid, but he isn't showing to be a superstar by any means. They are going to have a solid amount of cap space this summer, so maybe they do a rebuild and try to load up on assets for the next 2 years. What would you do if you were Bulls?

.....not trade Lavine out of all those people you named?

Lavine ship has sailed, as has Markkanan, now that they have a real coach that can play them correctly

This is like saying Wizards shouldn't trade Beal, they should trade everyone else.... Sometimes it makes sense to trade your best player.

its nothing like the wizards situation because Beal is older, washington doesn't have anywhere close to the same amount of younger guys who could be traded for solid return instead, and washington already went for a hail mary at another position (wall/wb) that blew up immediately
their timelines are drastically different. washington will have westbrook and bertans making 63 mil a year combined til 2023 while the bulls will have all the flexibility they could ask for as soon as this throwaway of a season is over. the bulls don't 'need' to do anything. especially regarding lavine of all people

Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
Another team that looks to be in trouble longterm is the Utah Jazz. After the Gobert massive deal and Mitchell contract extension kicking in this summer they are slated to be at 131 Million cap without using any Free Agent exceptions. Also, not included is Mike Conley 40 Million dollar cap hold this summer. So they will have no free agent money to sign another free pg, they can bring Conley back using bird rights, but that puts them into the Tax, which I do not see Utah doing. Wonder if they make a deal at the deadline to try and drop some future money.
If we are going to trade Graham, maybe they are a decent target. They can't trade their first this year until the season is over because it is owed to Memphis. Not sure they have much they can offer us, but they really need to find a way to bring in a younger point guard. If I were Utah I would be targeting Graham, Garland or Lonzo.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
Mitchell and Graham are close (they played together in HS). I believe Mitchell even said something over the offseason about wanting to play with him. If we're going to trade Graham I'm pretty sure the Jazz would be interested. He fills a need and their star player wants him on the team.
I wouldn't even bother with picks because the Jazz don't have much to offer there. Just do a sign and trade of Graham for Derrick Favors in the offseason. Favors is a bit older than Drummond, but he's just as good and on a great contract (believe it or not Favors isn't even 30 yet).

Rozier for Favors naturally makes way more sense if Utah was in the market for another guard for a multitude of reasons, but I don't expect them to. Conley is having a great year and I think they bring him back. Between Mitchell, Conley, and the contract they gave Clarkson to be their longterm sixth man combo guard, I doubt they're in the market to add another $15M+ guard.
investigate Adam Silver

The whole point of Utah being in the market is based around Cap. I am sure they would love to bring Conley back, but they are already pushed up against Lux Tax without him included next season. Utah has not been a Lux Tax team in the past, so they may not want to bring him back. The idea would be sending out one or two of their guys who are under contract next season for a future replacement at PG and be able to remain competitive, but under the Lux Tax Line.
