I think it's mental too. I posted before that we have a bunch of scrambling bumbling young kids and it's harder to expect them in the right places. But this whole logjam of guards I think has him out of sorts completely and mentally blocked. We've seen him have mental blocks before. In shooting, in layups. Hey, those blocks are back all of a sudden, right?

For those claiming he couldn't just automatically turn into a turnover machine. Ask yourself, how does he forget how to perform layups so quickly? Maybe it's all in the head for someone that needs to feel comfortable in the environment?

Happy for Ricky. He played super solid tonight and we don’t win without him leading the second unit.

It was always a matter of time. I'm honestly amazed people were so down about him, at least the ones that claimed to be his biggest fans and followed his whole career (coughCaniscough).

He's always been a slow starter and someone who needs to feel comfortable in order to play his best. It's why he's, for the last 5 or so years beginning with the last 2 he played with us, his stats improve significantly after the deadline. It's why he played so much better in the bubble and struggled earlier with his new Suns team. It's why there was always going to be some ups and downs early with us. Combine it with the overall weirdness of this COVID season and it should have been expected that he would struggle coming out of the gate.

I doubt he's entirely turned the corner yet, I'll need to see more performances like this until I can claim that, but it's a good sign and I expect more of it as he gets more acclimated to the team.

Layman also plays better on the second unit with Rubio because Ricky will actually pass it to him on a cut or fast break. Jake doesn’t work with DLo and Beasley because those guys need to shoot.
