That is really encouraging to see. I still think they're over-helping like crazy, but at least it's not as bad as the bubble. They had the best defensive rating in the NBA two years in a row by guarding the paint and good 3-point shooters and living with the variance from mediocre shooters. This gives me some hope that they're better than their numbers indicate. Still vulnerable against teams that can put 4-5 shooters on the floor at the same time of course, but who isn't?
Also it's worth remembering that we pretty much all knew, or should have known, that the days of having a fun, dominant regular season were officially over with the Jrue trade. Get used to this. I mean even the Warriors fell 15 games in the regular season standings within 2 years of signing Durant, but it didn't matter once the playoffs started. I'm not saying the Bucks will definitely be better in the playoffs, but a similar principle of sacrificing regular season depth in hopes of an improved playoff rotation does apply here.
