It’s over. This team is clearly cream of the crop and going all the way!
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

I would approach the Bulls and ask them if they would trade their first rounder for Fred and filler.

edit: Never mind, Fred would be great off ball next to Cade.

Cade and VanVleet backcourt is match made in heaven. Cades a 6'8 PG, Fred is a 6'0 SG. Cade is a good play maker, VanVleet is elite off ball.

We are too good as currently constructed to tank. I see us making the playoffs as a lower seed but probably losing in 6 or 7. Pick will probably be in the 15-18 range which will be ok since this is a pretty deep draft. The only way we fall into a top 5 pick is if they trade Lowry and shut down Vanfleet and Siakam.

Tankers need to start their own forum.

We can't have them out there making the rest of real gm look like idiots.

Exactly.....

Organizations aren't just parts that you can move around, that become picks, that become championships.

There are layers to this.......

All those lessons that Fed learned from Kyle while "treadmilling", that turned into trophies - are the same ones Wantanabe learns from Fred while the team is learning how to win again. If you lose on purpose, those moments don't happen again.

Those Caes and Suggs and whomever, come to a team that was trying to lose, with players that were set up to fail. This is not a situation you want young stars coming in to.

If you are a bad team, come by it honestly. If you are bad because your stars retired or left, great! At least the players that remain don't feel like they have been given up on and forced to lose. Don't tear apart the bonds that make a moment like this one last night.

Don't want to go full tank. Just like what the Mavs did. They won with Dirk then treadmilled then was bad enough for the #5 pick then traded up to #3 to select Doncic. Just need 1 more star player since it is unlikely for a FA to come.

Even Gordon Hayward player has gotten Charlotte into playoff positioning. Indiana got Paul George with like the #12 pick and flipped him for Oladipo and Sabonis (who is the key to the team).

The way it's shaping up Doncic will be the greatest top 5 pick since LeBron. I'd love that result, too. But it either requires the 14% or worse chances at first pick or some dramatic bad decisions by the guys drafting ahead of you. Phoenix' FO targeted Doncic to the extent they hired his coach ahead of his draft year, and ownership intervened. They required three teams to pass on him in order to execute that trade. And with all that, their record is similar to the Raptors right now.

Yep, and even Indiana, which as the poster above said made a nice trade getting some good assets for George, it's not like they have had much success. They are a perennial 6-7 seed that loses in the 1st round.

ya most people are advocating for a 1 season tank, not a full on 5 season tank

There's mediocre trash in the playoffs every year - especially in the East.

Our guys are too competitive to tank a season. Deal with it.

The Magic have been the worst team in the league since Fultz got injured. If the Raptors reach the break in a reasonable position then it's a wrap, but the schedule gets MUCH tougher.

Team has too much winning pedigree and nurse, to do a Washington style tank... we will squeeze into the playoffs and be a first round exit...

What about trading Fred? He must have lots of value. Is he hard to trade due to his recent signing? I know he can't be traded till March but what about that BYC poison pill or whatever it's called. Does that apply? I don't see Kyle being traded. $30M expiring and aging with a somewhat cantankerous personality. Fred would look great in Philly next to Embiid and Simmons. Norm could be a fit too. Something along the lines of Tobias Harris and FRP's/prospects? Giving up FRP's/prospects is easier to swallow when the player returning is already signed, younger and playing great.

I understand not wanting to trade Fred. He is a player you can win with. I've had enough with the small backcourt though.

Yes, it really hurt Durant, Westbrook and Harden’s growth when they came to a team that won 20 wins every year.

Good players along with good development develop.

It’s bad management and those same managements picking mediocre players causing the cycle of mediocrity.
