Don't bother chasing after watson right now. If you wanna offer a first and change for rodgers cool. But Watson is out of our reach and we shouldn't waste time chasing a dandy buck when there are other deer to shoot at. I personally think trubisky would be an interesting pick up if we don't get Rodgers, or sign Cam extra cheep. Mitch Turbisky could still come along and he's still only 26. I think he deserves another chance IMO.long suffrin' boulez fan wrote:These reports of two firsts, two seconds, two defensive starters for Watson.

LyricalRico wrote:Derek Carr, anyone? I'm sure the Raiders would like to win now, and Gruden strikes me as a guy who might pull a Ditka and give up whatever it takes to get somebody like a Deshaun Watson or Aaron Rodgers. As far as I know, Carr's contract isn't onerous (although he might want an extension) and he's a proven starter in his prime.

I'm not a Trabisky guy. I like his mobility, but he's too inaccurate and isn't good going downfield even with a good arm.
I like the idea of drafting a developmental QB in the 3rd round. If Kellen Mond is still there, he'd be someone I'd seriously consider. He's got a strong arm with a quick release, good escapability, needs to work on his consistency and add some bulk. Jamie Newman is another - I'm actually leaning towards him over Mond.

We can bring back hinike for sure and sign a younger free agent or get a young guy from a team taking a QB in the first round and move on maybe get a rookie late to develop from a small school and if you still have smith roll with 4 QB because covid.

I would be happy trading nothing of value for Gardner Minshew and/or signing turbisky, we have Allen of we resign him and I think hinikie deserves a deal, let those 4 young bucks fight it out. I think Alex smith should retire and maybe be given a spot on the staff and his full salary, in my opinion.LyricalRico wrote:gambitx777 wrote:I understand that 100% but I would rather get Turbisky for peanuts or trade a ham sandwich for and a 7th rounder or something for Minshew, than pay firsts for guys like stafford and carr. Given how the Stafford deal set the market, you could be right that Carr is out of our price range. I'd still see what could be done though, I actually like him better than Stafford in a vacuum. A first, a third, and Allen is probably as far as I'd go.
And I forgot about Minshew, he'd be intriguing as a cheap Plan B to compete with Allen and Heinike. Keep the best two, trade the third at the end of preseason to a team that needs a backup. Smith stays on as a mentor and stop-gap starter if needed, and Montez keeps working with the practice squad.

Allen is worth a 2021 1st round pick. To give him up and a 1st and a 3rd is far too much for Carr - who isn't as good as Stafford, imo.

There are options out there and honestly Kyle allen deserves a shot not his fault he got hurt. Tyler hinikie played great ball too! So what's let. I really think kicking the tires on Minshew is a good idea and if we don't at least call turbisky I'll be sad. Can you imagine a QB comption with those 4 guys ! Nice young core of QB .Ruzious wrote:LyricalRico wrote:

Agreed on Kyle - I meant Jonathan Allen is worth a 1st. I think Kyle's a fine backup QB. It's almost impossible to have 4 guys competing for the starting spot, because there's no way to practice 4 QB's with the starting offense and defense. Maybe I'm nuts, but if Taylor can gain some weight, I'd like to see him get a chance. He doesn't have the tools you look for, but the guy processes what to do at a level other QB's can't. That's a special quality. He's also accurate and exceptionally mobile. I just hope he can stay healthy - hence the need to gain some strength.

Bigger. Arm is electric. Accuracy on the run is pinpoint. Work ethic is not comparable. I feel confident saying Wilson will be a star. Would not shock me if he turns out even better than Trevor Lawrence.
I'd give up 3 1sts for him.
