19 points in a Gonzaga win over Pacific is not impressive

Pacific actually played them pretty well. Gonzaga usually plows over teams

Cool to watch that and hear his athleticism and first step compared to guys like Morant, Lavine and Fox.

That is the one part that a guy like Cade lacks but has the skills, ball handling and IQ to make up for it.

early in the season one of the reasons i really liked jalen suggs was his shooting, it reminded me of lillard with his compact stroke and how he could pull up from range. he was shooting a good percentage too which was encouraging.

he's now down to 36% from 3 on the season and 25% in the last 11 games. i know it's nitpicking but i think with relatively small sample sizes it's important to eliminate obvious outliers, which his 7/10 shooting against iowa is. without that one game he's shooting 28% from 3 and even if you "even it out" and take away one of his 0/3 shooting games he's at 30%. i know he's playing in a smaller role than the other top prospects because he's on a more veteran team but he's not attempting a lot of shots from deep which isn't the best sign either.

i still like him overall as a prospect but his shot from 3 cooling plus his mediocre free throw shooting (74%) gives me more doubt than i had early in the season.

I wouldn't have him top 3 at this point

He reminds me of a better offensive version of Rondo. Always surveying the floor, can rebound well and plays good defense. Just his overall motor and intensity can be like that type of player.

Oklahoma State vs Kansas at 9pm on ESPN
Then
Gonzaga vs BYU at 11pm on ESPN

Chance to see Cade and Suggs as the ESPN double header

Suggs looks great tonight, Cade had a big game as well with some bad TOs and ball handling at times though

Very VERY impressed with Kuminga's interview. Didn't know he had a feel for the game. Thought he was just an athlete.

Could definitely see Weaver taking him especially considering how much he loved Pat Williams last draft.

Love Jalen's heart too... just not sure if he's only a rich man's Lou Williams. Now that we have DSJ, not sure if we need another high-energy athletic scoring type without elite two-way production and size.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

Why are you factoring DSJ into ANYTHING this team does going forward?

Because I believe in his talent as an athletic scorer (track record: hs, college, rookie year before Luka took over),

Because I believe in Casey's ability to get the best out of his natural talent ( track record: Lowry, Siakam, Van Vleet, Bruce Brown, Christian Wood, Josh Jackson)

Because I believe in team building not stacking the same roles over and over on top of each other... and DSJ/Jalen Green are pretty much the same player until Jalen Green shows me more playmaking/defense in 5 on 5 basketball against grown men.

Now if Jalen Green sets himself apart in 5on5 play against grown men, and he shows himself to be more than just a scorer, and he shows a complete 2-way game... then it's a different conversation.
