Jokic, Embiid, James. That’s how I have it at the moment. Bron needs a bit of work to catch the top two but they both seem to be interchanging almost every game for me.

Would be great to see a big man win the MVP.

Curry shouldn't win MVP unless he puts his team 3rd in the West.

Have you seen what he’s playing with? His teams record isn’t much worse than Jokers.

True but it feels weird to give it to curry if they end up 5th or 6th seed. I mean that would be an incredible accomplishment, MVP worthy. But I don't see it happening.
At minimum warriors have to be 4th seed

And the entire discussion derailed the last few pages because of expected reasons.. :nonono: :banghead:

I get the Jokic hype because he put up 50, but his team is 12-10 and clearly regressed from last year. No way he shouldn't have at least a similar record than last year if he really stepped his game up but it isn't showing on the record sheet. He also got outplayed by the lakers pretty bad last game.

Have said it already, but it’s clear that Jokic will fall just short due to a lack of wins, despite probably putting up the most impressive numbers. It’s not that Jokic hasn’t contributed to more wins, it’s that his teammates simply haven’t remotely shown up for the ride this year.

Outside of Murray going ballistic in the bubble last year, (pretty much unsustainably) who has impressed at all on that roster this year?

it's painful to see this version of super skinny Jokic lose games.
you can't lose 3 freaking games to the Kings in one season though (I'm talking to you Denver). How many MVPs have lost 3 games to the Kings? :) (I know it's irrelevant but funny)

I have Embiid nr. 1 right now. 16-3 when he is playing, putting up great numbers.

I'd say Jokic might be the best player so far, but hard to take him over Embiid, LeBron and Kawhi if the Nuggets continues to stay as a 5-6 seed.

Giannis should be up there aswell. My top-5 is Embiid, LeBron, Kawhi, Jokic and Giannis - in that order probably. Curry, Durant and PG-13 from 6-8. Doncic putting up the numbers, but hard to make the conversation with a losing record. Mitchell, Dame, Doncic and Tatum from 9-12.

That stat has shown Curry to be better than Durant throughout the last 8 years, even when sharing a team together.

LesGrossman wrote:It has been consensual understanding that you cant get MVP with another MVP caliber player on your team. The numbers are shallow, everyone next to AD will get basically 7+ assists for free. LeBron plays literally no defense especially on help, he just stands around and allows guys to blow by without even stepping in - the reason the Lakers still have a huge defense is only AD. That is his self declared "coasting" so there really is no case for him to be MVP at this point. Cant do it all, use the coasting excuse when losing and then pretend you're going all out when talking MVP.

Jokic should be on top, but then KD has shown to be key for the Nets. If they end up on top of the east he is just as valid as a candidate. Embiid, Kawhi also above LeBron. Not sure about Giannis at this point, but we have to stick to the condition for MVP - its a regular season award, its not based on what guys did in the past, or in the post season. In the reg season Giannis is a monster, on both ends. So yeah probably above LeBron as well. If AD gets back to last seasons' shape even he should be above LeBron because he actually plays defense 48 min and not only for 1 or 2 marquee TV moments.

Poor game for Kawhi, 20/10/2 2 tos on 44 ts, in a loss against the kings.

Kawhi continues to get exposed without PG, Jokic falls to a tie for 7th place, Embiid missed quarter of the season and is playing against an even weaker schedule than Giannis did last year

LeBron is the runaway favorite now

Then it's a truthful stat

i feel like this is a season where it comes together for Lebron. Top record, best player on his team and all his competition will be flawed. Embiid should be the fav, but is there anyway he doesnt miss at least a quarter of the season?
