I get what you mean.
But it’s not like we have a surplus of talent that we can afford to sacrifice talent for some financial savings that doesnt really benefit the team except for Josh Harris’ wallet.
After Embiid, I find Tobi to be the most important player on the team right now. Tobi right now has the highest On vs Off NetRtg on the team, higher than Embiid.
Let’s say if you can trade anyone, except Embiid, for Robert Covington I find that the team would suffer the most if it’s for Tobi.
If Im trading Tobi, I atleast need a guy who can be a 2nd option in crunch time after Embiid.
Tobias is shooting unsustainably hot from 3. He goes back to his regular 37-38%, that's one less 3 a game, he's a 17PPG guy again, and as mentioned above, he's right back to being the worst contract in the league.
Seth Curry and Danny Green also need to be dealt. It's not about this year. Maybe tonight will remind everyone of that.
We’re not trading anyone just because they had a bad game or else it’s going to be a revolving door.
Its not like we’re trading Tobias for Klay Thompson and Duncan Robinson. Fournier and Bjelica are both in the same tier of bad or average version of Tobi but WITHOUT THE UPSIDE.
And right now, unless we can get a legit number 2 scorer (some perimeter scorer that can average atleast 25ppg on good TS%), we have to rely on that upside of Tobi.
I'm not referring to any trade in specific, but rather just moving Tobias in general. You cannot have 3 max guys who all play in the front court. That's what the Sixers have right now. One has to be a guard. Also how long is ownership paying the tax for a team that has no shot at winning a ring? Are they paying repeater tax?? Will they even re-sign Danny Green this offseason if he's still here or just let him walk for the cap savings???
Also Tobi has no upside. This is the absolute best version of him you are seeing right now.
