I wasn’t “complaining” about what we got.

Just if five teams are all vying for the same guy, I was merely pointing out that it surprised me Weaver couldn’t get them into a bidding war to get more than a pick around #44 overall (DSJ likely won’t be here beyond this season).

Again, I wasn’t expecting much - but I also wasn’t expecting five teams to express interest either

One of the key positives that come out of the Rose trade is the timing. We could have dangled him out there for six more weeks before pulling the trigger, giving our PG prospects far fewer minutes this season.

We unloaded Rose early and before an injury took him off the market. In a few more weeks we could have been wishing for just any pick if Rose's right knee acted up again. I'm glad that worst case didn't happen.

The other thing to remember is Rose was expiring so we weren't looking to be committed to anything past this year in a player to go with the pick.

Knicks probably made the most sense with DSJ having a big rookie salary on its last year with a 2nd rounder.

Meh, DSJ didn’t have to be in the deal at all, from a salary standpoint. The Knicks had cap space enough to absorb Rose and his contract.

Now, maybe Weaver asked for DSJ as a trial for the rest of this season. That’s possible.

Maybe they value him and think they can tap into his potential?

I was talking more about the other teams taking on Rose while giving us back a young expiring and a pick.

I'm sure they did want DSJ though as theres really no risk but just possible reward

I'm not sure Weaver didn't want Ntilikina instead of Smith BUT:
1. They will see what DSJ has and can become by the end of the season so they could extend him or not.
2. Ntilikina will be easier to convince to sign in Detroit this summer as his buddy Sekou is in the team and there little possibility that Knicks retain him, if DSJ pans out or not.

The biggest example of this is Blake. Should have traded him two years ago when he was putting up CRAZY numbers.

Rose, we should have traded last season.

Man I hope not we need to move him this deadline or at least before next season starts. Should be able to get a nice pick for him. Some of the fringe playoff teams should be interested.

Ntilikina was actually part of the group who beat US players at World cup and scored clutch buckets against them.

Smith has a $7.7m qualifying offer next season, so I'm sure the Pistons will decline. Even if he shows some promise he'll be far cheaper as a free agent.

Did you just wake up from a 3 year coma? Blake has massive negative value. We would likely have to attached multiple picks just to move him.

I said earlier I wanted Rose off the team so other guys can get touches (Rose is a ball hog :-? ). I also mentioned I thought a couple seconds was sufficient so this is a little light on compensation but overall I'm happy and Rose is happy. We did him a favor in trading him to a desired destination and I'm fine with that.

Now what do we do with Wayne Ellington? If we can get late first/ early second I say we trade him. I don't mind him but he's a little redundant with Svi.
