The onslaught of lamelo ball highlights plastered all over social media and ESPN every night has brought our local hero Eric Collins to the National spotlight. He is getting a ton of recognition now for his enthusiastic legendary play calls.

The Wider NBA audience is beginning to understand what we Hornets fans have known, that Eric Collins is phenomenal at what he does. It would be a shame if this new national attention landed him a bigger gig away from the Hornets. We can't lose both Stephanie ready and Eric Collins.

Let's sign him to a lifetime contract with no opt-out clause

On a similar note, we also need to hang on to Ashley.

I would give up Dell before I gave up Eric or Ashley.

They can have Gerald Henderson. I wish Rex was still around doing some post game commentary for our games, but he's got bigger fish to fry these days, mainly old turtles in Kentucky.

Brendan Haywood would be a solid Dell Curry replacement if Dell ever decided to retire. That is after we made a call to Stephanie ready to see if she wanted to come back to be full-time color commentary.

Funny how Eric Collins has gone from extremely hated to one of the most beloved commentators in the league

I never hated Eric, not even in the slightest. I loved him from the start.

That might be because I hated Steve Martin so much though, so anyone other than him was always going to be a massive upgrade in my mind.

The fact that Eric is so engaged, energetic, accurate, well researched and fun is just gravy.

You hated Steve Martin? I can’t remember, were you an OG Hornets fan or did you start with the Bobcats?

I’m a circa 2003 Bobcats guy.

I know you OG Hornets dudes love Martin, and maybe he was good back in the day, but my only experience of Martin was that he was a buffoon who continually got players names wrong (from our team), team names wrong, stats wrong, scores wrong, plays wrong and generally seemed really distracted when calling games - and his solution was just to laugh things off.

IMO he brought zero value as a commentator.

I liked Steve Martin. He was okay. But he went downhill pretty fast when he started getting towards the end of his career...

EC's style at the very beginning was jarring. After the first month or two, basically everyone was on board.

People think Mitch is building this team around LaMelo, but hes actually building around Eric Collins.
