Sign Napier, still an open spot for a buyout player

Holiday - Napier
DDV - Pat - Forbes - Ramsey
Middleton - Craig - Nwora
Giannis - Bjelica - Thanasis
Lopez - Portis
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

This seems like something Middleton should not have said publicly.

“That’s nothing to play around with. And once [Jrue] tested positive you immediately think about his health, his safety and then his family back home. He has little kids too that he has to worry about. So, I think, that was a huge part of what was going through my mind before the game, is just thinking about him and his family back home.”

The Bucks would only say Holiday is in the health and safety protocol.

Well, I guess it's decided then.. add Christian Wood to the MVP conversation....

From the RPM archives:

"So it's not reasonable to look at a player who ranks 10th in RPM and say he's decidedly better than a player who ranks 11th, or even 15th. These small distinctions are trivial. Instead, it makes more sense to focus on players whose ratings dramatically diverge, or those whose ratings are far different from conventional wisdom.

Additionally, RPM can rate players only in the specific role in which they're being used. That's true of all NBA stats and metrics, certainly, but particularly important with RPM because of how a player's impact on team performance can vary based on context. "

I don't know why it's so hard for some to just admit Wood is a good player. It's not like you were the GM who made the decision.

I just don't understand why Wood has to be brought up every time.

Because it was super obvious he was talented they are upset their personal evaluation was so wrong so they have doubled down on it. It happens a lot on this board. Most people just hush and pretend they weren't wrong, which is the better option. For Wood it went from "So what if he's destroying DJW in practice, it's practice" to "So what he's destroying the G-League, it's the G-League" to "So what he's destroying at the end of the season, it's the end of the season" to "So what he's destroying for these 3 teams, they all didn't keep him" to "So what he killing it for Houston, he's not a good player" to "So what his stats say he's a good player, the stats are wrong".

Rockets are #2 in defense so he obviously hasn't hurt them there. I'll gladly eat crow and root for him if he puts it together for a full season, but maybe we need to chill on the early hot takes given that it's been 17 games. He's shooting 85% at the rim and 42% from 3PT range. I'm incredibly skeptical that both A) those efficiency numbers hold up, and B) he's turned himself into a good or even neutral/average defensive player overnight. He's at least making me re-think my 2011 Michael Beasley comparison.

May be a crazy idea but I'd love to see how Whiteside fit in our drop scheme. My guess is he'd shut down the whole paint. You could stagger him and Giannis, have Khris or Jrue run PnR with him.

DJW will average 18 and 7 when he gets to the Pistons and Rockets too and he'll still be lost on team defense concepts, too

Wood would've been a great backup 4/5 here. If this system turned Lopez into a good defender then wood could've been at least not a negative.

Oh really? Do it with DJW then ... he has more natural skills than Wood

I believe 100% that we primarily kept DJ to use in trades, and I dearly hope we get the opportunity to make something positive out of that decision.

Anyways back to DD.... Here's a comprehensive list of what his offensive responsibilities should entail:

1. Shoot open 3s
2. Take 1 dribble if needed and pass to other dudes for open 3s
3. That is all

More natural skill? At what level? Wood is clearly the more gifted athlete and scorer. His problem has always been mental but he's shined everywhere that has given him opportunity. Wilson hasn't shown anything when given the opportunity outside of a handful of games his sophomore year.

Probably worth a title update. What's the min amount of time he is out? A week?
