Sitting pretty!

Are we?

8-10 is clearly the worst space to draft in.

Check the history, it's dreadful:

Last ten #8 picks
2020 Obi Toppin
2019 Jaxson Hayes
2018 Collin Sexton
2017 Frank Ntilikina
2016 Marquese Chriss
2015 Stanley Johnson
2014 Nik Stauskas
2013 Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
2012 Terrence Ross
2011 Brandon Knight

Last ten #9 picks
2020 Deni Avdija
2019 Rui Hachimura
2018 Kevin Knox
2017 Dennis Smith Jr.
2016 Jakob Poeltl
2015 Frank Kaminsky
2014 Noah Vonleh
2013 Trey Burke
2012 Andre Drummond
2011 Kemba Walker

But it never does, or maybe once every decade. For every Amar'e Stoudemire, there's like 10 Frank Kaminskies.

You have at best a 10% chance of drafting an All-Star with those picks, and something like a a 25% chance of drafting a rotation player who can make a positive impact.

These odds don't get me hyped.

It's all about the draft class and it's depth, not the historical merits of the pick slot. I'd be ecstatic with a guy like Moody sitting there, or Kispert, or Ziare. Their skills are transferrable.

I always think of it as, there was absolutely a player that could have been taken 8 or 9th that would have been really good, basically every year

It's just on the scouting department to identify him, and the coaching to develop him.

DeAndre Jordan is just hot trash. Nets interior defense is Eddy Curry bad. Pistons right now doing what they want at please. It's early in the game and Nets will probably win, but Nets weaknesses are too glaring and those kind of weaknesses get exposed in the playoffs. rebounding and defense wins.

Harden and Jordan arguing 4 minutes into the game.

Sean Marks screwed that franchise over giving away Jarrett Allen.

You can't ignore the pattern though. For whatever reason (I have my theories), teams in that range simply target the wrong players. It's not the product of random luck.

We'll see how these draft prospects pan out, they're always more enticing when their value is abstract and they haven't stepped foot onto an NBA court. But you and I both hope for the best, that's for sure.

Haliburton is killing me.....17 min, 15 pts, 6-8 shooting, 3-3 from 3

Kings up 5 vs the 76ers

dude is a winning player. for all of you who want to make the playoffs, had we drafted Haliburton that could've been a strong possibility

Obit might turn out "ok" but Knicks are talent bereft. Every time they take the lesser player it's that much longer until they are good.

Blew it with Frank - couple of better players after - scouting or FO fail
Blew it with Knox - again, couple of player better went after - scouting or FO fail
Blew it with Obi - another scouting or FO fail.

I mean, even getting one of those right and Knicks are better team and closer to competing.

The Nets are in a great position. They have a guaranteed playoff spot and guys on their team with championship experience.

I agree - absolutely nothing could possibly go wrong with that team. Guaranteed championship, multiple years.

Hopefully this isn't a "Oh, we traded the 40th pick and DSJr for Rose" thing.

I agree, but that trade was good. In a vacuum and for the Knicks now, in reality.

But hopefully, the Knicks will be sellers, and I don't care if it's ALL 2nd rounders, but might be able to squeeze a 1st rounder out of this group, certainly 2nd rounders:

Payton/Burks/Bullock/Noel/Rivers/Frank and Randle.
With Randle being the most likely to land a 1st, followed by Burks and Bullocks, though I'd think either of those guys means a STRONG playoff team (pick from 28-30) with probably an injury...for a #1 to happen for them. But Randle is worth a first to someone.

I see 7 chances at more picks
