LaMelo Ball or Ja Morant?

I know that right now we have Luka vs LaMelo thread on general board but at the end of the day I don't think you can really compare them two as Luka is miles ahead of everyone. Instead, I think LaMelo Ball vs Ja Morant is an interesting comparison.

Who would you want as your cornerstone point guard in let's say 5 years?

I'm not, I actually thoroughly enjoy watching LaMelo play but we have to be realistic here about who is Luka Doncic and what kind of start to his career he has had.

Lamelo against Luka is not so crazy. Only that Luka is maybe the most consistent star in the League, with Lebron and maybe Giannis, while it is main Lamelo's flaw for the moment.
On the other hand, if Lamelo gets consistency, he has a lot of advantage over Ja, because of his size, so he may finish scoring and defending better than Ja. While I think he already has a better vision and passing.

really interested to see peoples takes in this thread. Ja has been struggling the past few games. Defenses blitz and double as soon as he gets the ball and the team has no one healthy to compliment him. Really need to get JJJ back in

Who wins tonight between the 2? Hornets are 4 point dogs as of now. I don't see why this isn't closer to a pick em myself. To the Griz and Hornet fans. What am I missing?

This is more of a cheap shot at Ja. LaMelo should be pitted against guys like Sexton first.

interesting to see how the individual matchup tonight goes, doesnt mean anything of course just like Lamelo schooling Doncic in their first meetup didn't mean anything to anyone. I honestly dont get how you don't take Melo long term in this comp though.

Impossible to answer. Ja is already a consistently great player, LaMelo is not. But the thing with LaMelo is it's all about potential. He has the tools to be great. He hasn't put it all together yet. Will he? There's really no way to know at this point.

That's exactly why I am confused why you can get the Hornets at +140 on the money line. I don't think either team is much better then the other but right now with the Griz being very injured and the Hornets being completely healthy the easy $ seems to be leaning Hornets. There must be something I'm missing though, which is why I was curious to what I was missing.

6.5 assists - 3.2 turnovers at 29.3 mpg

LaMelo Ball first 25 games:
6.2 assists - 2.5 turnovers at 26.9 mpg

Dear God. The shooting has been awful so far, I agree, but this year he has been a significantly improved defender. I'd say he's even above average defensively, I don't get why people don't seem to get that.

For me it's Morant by quite a bit, he has a larger body of work and has done really well in high-stakes situations such as the bubble. I'd like to see how LaMelo improves going into his second season and how he fares in elimination games this year (barring injuries, I can't see Charlotte finishing lower than 10th in the East).

Gotta be a troll. Luka surrounded by knockdown shooters? Who would that be? He had Seth Curry, but that's about it. THJ has 0 consistency and DFS is a G-League level player. Don't get me started on KP. LaMelo on the other hand has Devonte Graham, Miles Bridges, PJ Washington, Gordon Hayward and Terry Rozier, all of them relatively good shooters. About taking over games, do you remember last year's playoffs? Or this year against the Warriors or Nuggets? Or most games where it has been close at the end? Yeah. If you truly believe that LaMelo is even remotely close to Luka, I'd advise you to not post anymore. I can see the Ja comparison, but Ja is significantly more consistent at around the same level. I'd take Ja.
