GT #22: Raptors @ Bullets 7 PM (NBCSW/1500 AM) [2/10/21]

Post#1 » by FAH1223 » Tue Feb 9, 2021 6:18 am

YOUR Washington Bullets ACTUALLY played some defense against a short handed Bulls squad.

They're now 6-15. They have opportunity to go streaking with the Raptors in town for the first meeting of the season.

Toronto is coming off a big W in Memphis in which they rained threes down on the young Grizzlies. Kyle Lowry has back spasms and his availability is in doubt. But Fred VanVleet has been having big scoring nights lately. Pascal Siakam seems to be returning to form. And OG Anunoby may in fact return for this matchup. The Raptors began the season at 3-8 and have since gone 8-5.

The Raptors will be playing their big wings and Scott Brooks will refuse to play Deni and Rui many minutes or deploy the Bonga/Brown duo that's glued to the bench. Get ready for Neto, Ish, and Westbrook lineups that get killed defensively

Raptors should win by double digits.

Siakam's finally playing like I thought he would. Toronto by a lot. Our future GM is not impressed.

Yup. Toronto has righted the ship after a rough start. They've won 4 of their last 5.

Yeah, well, we'll soon put them in their place!

How good can they be? They're playing a bunch of low draft picks.

Actually, draft picks, hlel... they've got what looks like a G League roster. I mean...

7 un-drafted players,
3 players out of R2 (2 of the 3 out of the end of that round),
5 guys picked towards the bottom of R1 (on average #25).
1 guy, that's all, picked in the top 10 where we know the elite talent lies.

& that's the GM we want? Go figure.

Good God, according to our friend Ducler, the Raptors are fielding their best five...Unless Russ and Beal play like last time vs. the Nets and Bertans shoots at a 40% 3 pt clip we are toast and the tank rolls on...

It might raise the question - How much do we have to lose by to get Scott Brooks fired? Not that all this is Brooks' fault, but last place isn't a good thing, and it's not like the young players are developing well. Brooks seems like a good guy, and with all the absurd money he's made - he can enjoy the good life and plan for his descendants.

There is no point differential that will result in Brooks getting fired. Brooks is going to be the coach of the Wizards until the end of time.

The Raptors are hitting everything so far. The Wizards have contested for the most part, and no egregious mistakes on D yet.

Westbrook is just jacking up long 2's and turning the ball over.

I. Just. Don't. Understand. Why. Any. Coach. Would. Be. Fine. With. Westbrook. Taking. A. Jump. Shot. Early. In. The. Shot. Clock. I'd sit his ass and force him to change his habits.

Anyway, a good start to the Wiz, Raps lead 20-11. I've personally reached the stage where I just want this team to lose as many games as possible (if they win the youngsters better play +20 mins) and maybe something would actually change. There's simply no point in chasing that 8-10th seed.

Getting real tired of watching the Raptors score because we're not getting back on defense.
