Have you guys checked Woj’s podcast with Tobi?
The opening story about Tobi’s 50-40-90 and Biid is a funny one

The problem that I see with trading Tobias is the fact that it would leave a huge hole at the 4 with every trade mentioned. Having Ben gives us flexibility, but it would take some backbone to tell him he's moving to the 4 unless your actually comfortable starting Mike Scott.
I actually prefer Ben in the PF spot (It’s his actual spot imo)
Playmaking PF, Small Ball in the playoffs when Embiid sits. Roll man. Those are better concepts for Ben scoring opportunities than being an outside shooter for sure. Bag in a hook or a floater and I’ll be happy. With three outside shooters plus Embiid’s midrange game it’s fine. Harris + Simmons clunks up the space still because they both like to lurk inside there too much. With just Simmons/Embiid plus outside shooters/scorers it’ll be fine.
13/7/7 DPOY Wing SF/PF versatile 3rd option Ala Draymond Green. If he nails down a hook/floater
Easily 16+ a game
Once we get a legit 2nd option (Beal/Oladipo/Maybe Lavine possibly not whoever it is that we can bank on to score in the halfcourt consistently on great volume or playmake at a high lvl or do both).
We won’t need Harris at all.
Curry
Oladipo
Green
Simmons
Embiid
Lowry
Green
Simmons
Harris
Embiid
Curry
Lavine
Green
Simmons
Embiid
Curry
Beal
Green
Harris
Embiid
Any of those four interations with added depth could go very far imo.
Yeah, Draymond Green is the player Ben should try to be. Hes basically prime Draymond with less shooting but way better transition offense.
That means he's mostly a PF, because he needs perimeters scorers next to him. Also means he's not close to being a superstar, and can only be the 3rd best player on a championship team.
With perimeter scorers i mean guys who are willing and prolific 3point shooters and can handle the ball/break down the defense. Something Tobias is not. We need to move Tobias and package for that kind of player sooner rather than later.

Re: Welcome Tobias Harris
People need to get over the Tobias Harris' trade and his contract at this point. Just holding on to something that isn't that important at this point.
Not only is Tobias Harris on pace for 50/40/90, he's also averaging more Points and Rebounds per game than other MAX players, Khris Middleton, Pascal Siakam and Demarr Derozan. He's also only 1/10th of a Rebound from averaging more Points and Rebounds per game than #1 option Jimmy Butler.

I would estimate on the open market he is a $25-30 million player, but I think he is playing well enough that the contract is becoming increasingly less of an issue. I’m not sure if anybody other than the Sixers give him that contract. Nevertheless, I think his contract is more of an issue because between him, Ben, and Joel, we have three guys making $30+ million and we still have a glaring hole in our offense, and we know Joel brings what he needs to the table.
I think Ben would shine best running between two other stars who are great scorers in the half court so his biggest weakness becomes nominal, and he can just shine at everything he does well... the Draymond type of role. Some people put together fantasy trades of Green, Scott, Shake, Maxey, and picks for a fourth star, but the Sixers aren’t going to lock into the repeater luxury tax. It’s either Joel, Ben, and Tobias make it work very soon, or the contracts becomes prohibitive building around Joel.
Tobias making a top 15 salary puts him in a position where he is getting paid as a star, and the Sixers need more scoring in big spots from someone other than Joel if they expect to get passed the second round. They need someone other than Joel to get big 4th quarter baskets. They need someone to score when Joel is on the bench. They need someone to be a number one scorer when Joel misses a game. People will naturally look at Tobias, and if he can’t be that guy, then it will go back to his contract since he is getting paid as a top star. While we are a top 10 team offensively, in the playoffs, we need to show we can consistently score in the halfcourt to have a real shot. If the Sixers don’t get passed the second round, there will be plenty of talk about moving Ben or Tobias to give Joel more help offensively.
One positive is that Tobias started his career as a 5 ppg rookie. Through hard work he has developed his game as much as anybody in the league. He took another step this year, and I hope between him, Ben, and Joel they have enough firepower.

Re: Welcome Tobias Harris
Great post. I like Tobias , but we would be way better with a Beal/Lavine kinda a player than him( in the playoffs you gotta have a great sg who can create). But if we cant get them in a Tobias package i wouldnt trade him( just to get out of his contract). He's a great locker room guy and he works hard to get better. Every year he's improving a little. If he could get better seeking contact and becoming a better closer he would be almost ideal to our team.sixers hoops wrote:Kobblehead wrote:Harris is playing like a legit star this year and his contract is almost...worth it?

Re: Welcome Tobias Harris
Who cares if Tobias Harris is making 10 million more than he should have been able to command. That's balanced out by Shake Milton and Mattise Thybulle, two top rotation players making close to nothing, for almost the length of Harris' contract. The 76ers' top 6 players going into next year are making 105-110 million, like pretty much every other team.

Harris is not playing bad. There are worse max players out there. Ideally you would want your max players to provide value beyond their salary but it is what it is. We are not getting a better player/fit if we trade him.

I think him making 10 million more is significant if your owner caps you from paying the luxury tax in consecutive years. I would be okay with our top 6 making 110 million if we can win a championship. If we can’t get beyond the second round with Embiid playing at an MVP level, then we have a top 6 that isn’t good enough. If Tobias were making 25 million, while we wouldn’t have cap space, I think we would have a more realistic opportunity to move Danny Green, Mike Scott, and picks to upgrade the roster. My guess is that Josh Harris is going to want at least Green’s contract to come off the books to keep us away from the tax next year. Ultimately, if Tobias doesn’t provide enough offensive firepower to the offense, I think his contract could be prohibitive in trying to build a winner around Embiid.

The 2020's efficient offense effect also.
It's crazy the scoring/efficiency numbers a lot of guys are putting up.
Glad Tobi is playing well, definiteviely Doc knows how to get the best of him. We should take advantage and trade him lol.

Hell yeah, Harris winning over the fanbase with his play and proving himself to be less of an albatross than originally professed is a incredible turn of events.

Are you just trying to create cap space?
Because Harris is better than both of those players right now and will also be better than both in the years that follow.

Re: Welcome Tobias Harris
In the offseason I'd move Harris for flexibility and get a couple minor assets back. It's not going to be cap space but it will give Morey more optionality. I wouldn't trade him at the deadline because you won't replace him with a more effective player and with the way Embiid and Simmons are playing you have some championship equity and they need Harris' support.

The third player with Ben/Jo has to be a perimeter creator who can shoot. Not a PF who can (usually) shoot but not really create.
Tobias' salary has to be broken up or reallocated. Or else ownership is going to do something stupid to avoid the repeater tax.

While Tobias isn’t the perfect use of resources, at this point, he is playing really well and the team chemistry is clicking. The best solution may be to get a fourth starter without paying premium price. Like the Celtics using a rookie Rondo. Or the Mavs championship team who used Jason Terry and Caron Butler in key roles. Sometimes it’s not the perfect fit on paper, but works on the court. Maybe they find a way to add a 10-12 million dollar stater, a Terry Rozier type, who fits better with us. Or maybe a Derozen or Oladipo or Lowry rental is enough. Not sure Shake is the answer right now, but adding to Tobias might be easier than replacing him with someone better.

Terry Rozier actually could be a very interesting addition to our core.
Just checked his numbers, 20 ppg with elite efficiency. 44% from three and 62% TS. Efficiency is really outta control around the league lol.
He's 26 so he fits our timeline perfectly, i guess the Hornets may want to build around Lamelo.

He is a hard worker who didnt disappear after hugh contract signed and improved so much this year. He can now shoot the 3 well and bully opponents with post up and great mid range jumpers, he also not shy to dunk on people..
Lets keep the team, we just need more games to perfect the chemistry
