I don't know. So far what i've seen he has that low center of gravity making him hard to push around. As opposed to Bruno's 'show muscles'.

Tree trunk legs, low center of gravity. Think of a stronger Carl Landry/Chuck Hayes but you’re right he hasn’t even lifted yet. Once he lifts, his strength is going to be insane.

:D

After that token appearance, hopefully Agent 0017 will be well enough to take a spot in the regular rotation.
Two Hawks have had their minute restrictions lifted. Hunter had successful surgery. Bog and Dunn are expecting
to be back after the all star break.

Going out to Dallas and meet them and their all star PG. Hoping for a big win!!

Tyrese Haliburton is looking like he has Jason Tatum potential. Yeah, I said it.

Passed on Hali for an undersized big who can't make point blank lay ups.

Whoa!!!

This is basically his pre-season. Nothing he's doing right now should count against him. He's just an extra body and 6 fouls to utilize at various times when Capela gets in foul trouble.

I honestly wish he wasn't playing at all this season. If we'd just redshirt him ala MPJ and Ben Simmons, he could come back next season ready to contribute as a 2nd year rookie.

6-9 more months of working with coaches and practicing with pros, and he'll be ready impact games come this fall.

(NOTE: I am curious why we aren't utilizing the G-League for Okongwu and Cam at this point. They both need PT in a lower profile setting to get their games straightened out.)

If Bruno had showed something when given the chance with OO out, then we coukd bring OO along as needed.
He's played in 7 games so I don't understand the 'garbage' overreaction. Bigs take longer to develop

hey I did qualify it by saying its early, but let's not pretend this guy has been anything but hot garbage pretty much every second he's been on the court.

he was the #6 pick, he played well at USC. He shouldn't need to learn how to play basketball. As of now he looks terrible. Hopefully that will change. We will see.

All this tells me is that you don’t watch “every second” of Hawks basketball. Calm yourself it’s a marathon.

Some of his play is just shocking. Solo had to reprimand him on defense for standing there like a statue. CLP took him out and he never returned.

:D

Agent 0017 is a very young rookie. He's Spud's pick. We expect him to live up to his position in the draft. We've already been screwed once when we passed CP3 in the draft years and years ago. This draft we passed on Haliburton.

OO is now a Hawk. He's one of ours. Give him time. He had no summer league, no pre season and is just now healing up enough
to get on the floor in a game.

How can he carve out a role if you don’t play him any minutes Lloyd? :nonono:

LOOKING FOR A ROLE
Pierce said rookie forward Onyeka Okongwu, the No. 6 overall draft pick, is progressing slowly after the cancellation of the NBA Summer League and a left foot injury that delayed his debut until last month. Okongwu, who did not play against the Pacers, is still trying to carve out a role.

:(

Well, can't blame LP for Agent 0017 not playing last night. Seems that, since he had no summer league, no pre season and not being able to play earlier due to injury, he's been told - - "Just sit and observe and wait for next season."

Did the Hawks actually blow this draft pick? If we just look at what he has done so far, yes. Yes, they did. While other teams have their rookies out there and shining their talents, Hawk's man sits. Our second round pick plays and looks full of promise.

Agent 0017 may be a great NBA player in the future. Right now, he's a dud. He's young enough to overcome this. This fruit is not yet ripe. It needs to mature. He may play a little bit the remainder of this season. Then, if the NBA has a summer league and he gets to play there and again in pre season, Hawk's fans may then get to see what we really have.

I dunno Gramps I’m gonna have to respectively disagree here. I agree that he hasn’t been given a chance but calling him a “dud” is a tad harsh based on what he does on the floor. Also, I wouldn’t say other teams are just throwing their rookies out there and having them “shine”. I mean, if you are talking about guys like Anthony Edwards, because of the situation he is in then yes, but I would say a whole heck of a lot of rookies outside your boy Haliburton are getting a ton of run.

Also, check out the game tonight Gramps Onyeka did his thing with the minutes he received. If anything this falls on Lloyd’s shoulders. Gramps, I know you’re baller unlike your granddaughter who called Capela a “lemon”... she doesn’t have my paper to cheat off anymore but still comes over to this land because she loves me and I live rent free in her brain. Next family picnic I’m rubbing mud in her nose! Good evening Gramps!

8-)

Spud: If Agent OO17 is able to play, there is no chance to win or lose the game (a blowout) and the coaches refuse to put him in the game, then I believe he's a dud. He did get to play in our last game. Perhaps he will yet overcome. We hope.

Maybe those other draft picks don't really shine. But, they get in games and have the opportunity. Our second round pick is a good example. He exploded in a blow out game. He's been in the rotation since that time.

Tonight, I hope our Agent OO17 gets his opportunity to shine against Cleveland. Hawks need another big win !!

Gramps last game against Denver which we won, he played 13 minutes scoring 9 points pulling 2 boards and swatting a shot with zero turnovers.

If they play him, he will produce, simple as that. Also, if our coaches don’t play him as you state, then I wouldn’t necessarily put the blame on Okongwu, what’s he supposed to do about it? He can only be ready when called upon.

At this point, I don’t trust the judgement of our coaches. Nate is 2-1 with the Hawks that’s a .667 winning percentage. If Lloyd wants to keep his job he better get with it. Right now, to me it’s all eyes on Lloyd more than Okongwu.

Gramps, how would you feel if we drafted Haliburton and Lloyd pasted his butt on the pine and we never saw much action from him due to lack of minutes? Would you call Hali a bust? It’s all about opportunity Gramps but I don’t have to tell you that.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
