Not sure how Pittsburgh could even afford to bring in JJ with their cap situation.

Re: ATL Offseason - JJ Released
Packers can definitely move things around to give JJ a competitive salary but it will be at the cost of at least 3 maybe 4 guys. We would once again be relying on internal growth and hitting on the majority of our picks, though.

How much would be a competitive salary? We can also backload his contract, so this year would be lower, but with guarantees.

Re: ATL Offseason - JJ Released
If he wants to take a discount to play at home or with his brothers either team could figure it out at the expense of depth.
If JJ wants to get paid and still play for a competitor:
-Indy" They get Wentz, that team could do some damage. Wentz with the Colts offensive line would be spectacular. Watt next to Buckner and Houston would be insane.
-Browns- that would be an amazing dline
-Tampa, but they have free agents of their own. Paying JJ might mean losing one of Lavonte David, Barrett, or Godwin but I am sure they could make it work.
-Ravens- enough said with that def
-Seahawks-awful defense, he would be asked to do a lot. Not sure he wants to carry a defense by himself. But that offense might be intriguing enough.
-Bills- def came on in the second half, offense is top 5
All of these teams have just as good (if not better) of a chance at the Superbowl as GB and much more cap space. I just don't see it happening....especially since there is a bidding war. Had we drafted TJ over King, then I think there is an extremely good chance he comes here even if for a 1 yr league minimum.
Also, I wonder if there is an outside chance he wants to play next to Donald. Rams have more cap issues than us, but if they could make it work he has to consider it.

I really hope he just doesn't go to Dallas, CHI, or Minnesota.

I see PIT and GB as the only contenders.

I'd add Tampa, but yeah, to me it is one of those three. Asking to be released when it is a cap shrinking year, he knows he isn't going to be making the same amount of money, so he isn't making this move to go, maybe, have a shot at a super bowl.

Agree. I think TB + Watt easily odds on favorite to win a SB. GB + Watt, I think we're dead even with TB as SB favorites, assuming we can get a couple more value signings. Watt going to PIT would be solely about playing with his brother because big Ben is cooked. Now if PIT could somehow add a significant QB without sacrificing much more than picks, I think they have the edge.
I also think it would be very "off brand" for Watt to choose Tampa over PIT and GB.

Man, I have no clue if they can afford it or if he'd stay healthy. But, if Barry's desire to get pressure with 4 guys is the goal then adding a versatile big man to Z/Clark/Gary needs to be the goal and JJ is a dream fit to fill out that front 4 from both a pass rush and run stop aspect.

Yep. He'd be a perfect fit, but I certainly wouldn't expect it with the cap situation and with so many teams being interested.

Really think Green Bay is dodging a bullet by being in the cap hell they are in this moment.
If the report is true that teams were willing to trade for Watt at his current rate, then there’s no chance he signs in Green Bay. They would get outbid by plenty of playoff teams.

I think we need to keep in mind;
1. a lot of teams have cap issues, we are not unique
2. if he wants to get paid, Jets, Jags, Patriots, Bengals and maybe Colts (but they still need to use cap or draft to get a QB) will be able to make bids no one else is really competing with, just don't see it happening, he clearly wants to win
3. Rodgers wants a 'all in' move, well if he were to restructure, we cut Lowry and Preston, we are at least in the realm of possibility. Probably would need to redo Z and Adams deals while we are at it, if we are going all in on the next couple of seasons.

As tempting as it may be, I would find it hard to go all in on Watt. That's a high risk move. This offseason is shaping up to be one where a ton of veteran players are gonna be looking for work. And my guess is a lot of those may sign one year deals to bridge the gap to a payday when the cap goes back up. Give me 3 or 4 guys like James White, or Xavier Rhodes types etc. At the end of the day, you have to hit on your draft pics. Backup QB's and Hbacks aren't gonna win you a Super Bowl

Re: ATL Offseason - JJ Released
Again, Packers can make the necessary moves to get under the cap and make a big offer for Watt but it will put us at a disadvantage everywhere else. If we can sign some quality vets on the cheap, trade back a few times and address depth issues in the draft, I'd be all for bringing in Watt. Personally, I don't see us hitting on multiple picks and getting multiple cheap vets. I do think Watt signing in GB would be a storybook ending for him and Rodgers. Makes all the sense in the world.

No idea why people would be at all hesitant to cut a handful of "just a guys" if it means bringing in a legit impact player in Watt. Who gives a **** if we have to move on from Preston Smith, Lowry, King, and Kirksey?

The Packers will likely have to move on from those players just to get under the cap. The question might be would you rather have Linsley or Watt.

If that is the question, then the answer is Watt. I think we have guys that can play there and I feel good about our young guys being able to cover the Guard spot if Jenkins ends up being the guy to play C.
But I think Jones, Linsley, Williams and King were pretty much all heading out the door already

Yup, it'll be reported on TMZ Sports. Some people will claim it as fact for years to come.

Linsley was PFF top rated center. He won't be that easy to replace. With Bakhtiari likely missing the first part of the season that will be a huge change for the OL.
