No, his time here just wasn’t that good.....

On the low Randle might have a better Knicks career than Melo when it’s all said and done (and I assume we keep Randle after this contract)

It's a possibility but I think we should let Randle play a single playoff game before we compare him to Melo, as a Knick let alone in general. Melo was an All-NBA player, regardless of his flaws. Randle has a whole organization desperately pushing for him to make his first All-Star appearance on a team with a losing record.

I said MIGHT based on the idea that 1) He will be here longer, and we’ll win more playoff series.

Also..... I’ll say it, he’s actually doing the stuff everybody use to wish Melo would do, like pass and rebound more and play PF..... for cheap

No I know that's why I acknowledged that it was a possibility to start the post, before freestyling.

We’re saying the same thing about let’s wait and see, but your harping on the fact he’s not great now. I’m not saying Randle is a better player in a vacuum than Melo, but he might end up being a better Knick. Also if Carmelo had stayed in Denver or had his career in Denver here I think his number would have been retired. Him splitting his best years between the two and the FO ineptitude with the Knicks ruined that and limited him in a lot of ways.

I'd support that. The max sounds terrible, but I'd rather pay him than Randle.

the max for Trent is too much and I'm a big fan. he'll likely sign for around what Joe Harris and Bogdan Bogdanovic (4yr/70-75M)

there is no way he makes less than 20 million a year. zero chance.

Randle's overall contributions this year exceed any year Melo ever gave to us. His stat line this year is across the board superior to anything Melo ever did by a big margin. And Randle makes his teammates better than Melo ever did. It is not even close.

What?

Every single retired Knick number went to the Finals or won a chip.

You don't retire jerseys for guys who won a single playoff round once and you don't make excuses for that by saying they were not surrounded by the right talent.

I saw some trade down scenarios iirc but can't recall a direct ask for him either.

Not too much sympathy for Thunder fans. They've had relatively fat times and a lot of hits too. Plus they stole the Sonics.

Poku is like the same as Hezi, a lot of confidence, but not much to show!

Randle is only better than Melo's last season with Knicks.
Melo's 11-12, 12-13 season was simply great. He was constantly get doubled. Knicks were #2 seed because of him and 40 years old Kidd. He was the reason the Knicks sweep the season series against the stacked Heatles team.

False.

I looked at both of their annual stats. I suggest you do too. This season's Randle has better shooting % and dimes and rebounds than every year Melo was a Knick. It is not even that close.

Lavine can shoot and play off the ball, much easier to envision him playing within a team concept with better players around him.

His scoring efficiency is Curry/LeBron level this year. Westbrook is bottom of the league for his usage.

Look at how much shots are off the ball. The amount of open looks he’ll get next to Randle would be insane.

A Randle / LaVine core is the most mid team imaginable, why do you want this for us? I can just see Randle in a park saying we got Zach LaVine, a perimeter beast and how they scared now.

Imagine going into a playoff series against the Celtics, Bucks, Sixers with a capped out team built around those two.
