It's not really reminiscent of that at all. It's classic internet dweebs taking a side and being extreme about it. "My guy is the greatest and the guy I don't like is the worst!"

People who are ready to christen Melo over Wiseman are probably the same people that were disappointed we got steph instead of Tyreke Evans.

Re: 2020 Draft Thread, Part 2
Poor Tyreke.
I remember the same sort of people being furious we didn't take Brandon Jennings instead of Steph, especially after BJ hung 50 on us.
There may STILL be people out there who think Steph is not an all-time great. It seems like it sometimes, watching people hurry to talk about how he's almost done, how he was overrated. The sad thing is, some of them have been members of this board.
Meanwhile, he looks stronger than ever, and he's still the best shooter in the league by a couple of lengths.

No we are not.
I really don’t think there was/is a big Lamelo > Wiseman crowd. ESPECIALLY before the draft — I think it was me and maybe a few others.

I really haven’t heard much of you declaring this race to be over.
But if you are ready to do so.. I have my Exhibit A. ready.
Ball may be the better player in the end, but definitively stating the guy who played professional ball for the past couple years is officially forever superior to the guy who hasn’t played since HS in that time (and had to deal with a COVID rookie preseason) because of 20 games is just comical.

Hmm I seem to remember you being adamant with some lame Klay Thompson takes and then when Klay made you look stupid you pretty much disappeared while the team went on an epic run.
Now your back to give us your vast knowledge. Thanks

I loved Klay. What the hell are you talking about? I even wrote an ode to him:

Did you watch him though or did you just go by what you heard about him?
Also "Wiseman is a beast" in what sense? His resume was even more shallow than LaMelo. He's just a big guy that can run.
I did watch Lameo's games and he is not a good defender. Hes just not. He will gamble for steals and is a really good instinctive rebounder, but straight up defense? no
Elite passer though, and hes a decent shooter at this point, but you can't really say hes going to be a GOOD shooter with that terrible form.
And I'd say that as smart as you are, for you to say all Wiseman is is a big guy that can jump is asinine.
I said he can run. I guess he can jump too.
didn't you say you are higher on Wiseman now than before the draft?

Hopefully we get to see Cole Anthony suit up. Says he’s day to day. Cole is one of the guys I really liked in the draft too. His feel for the game is awesome and not afraid of the moment.

You said on many occasions that Klay should never put the ball on the floor. You went to the grave on it. Go ahead and forget your looney takes way back. I remember.

Not many on the W's board were gunning for Curry pre-draft. Most of the buzz here was around Tyreke and Jrue (I was all about Jrue after seeing him play Cal)
I didnt like the Curry pick at first honestly. I didnt watch him in college much but I was very much against small SGs after going through the Monta experience.. because of Monta I didnt even want to give guys like Curry or Lillard a chance.
I dont feel that bad though because Jrue was a total hit, but learned 2 lessons from it: 1 - don't **** on an entire archetype just because you've got a bad version of it; 2 - the only people evaluating their draft choices under a year are the ones desperate for an internetz win

I'm marginally higher on his offense? But he's kind of what I was expecting tbh.

I mean Klay still isn't much of a "put the ball on the floor" guy. So yeah. Not sure why that means I dont like him.

Again, I had Melo first and Wiseman 6th so there's no revisionist history going on here. I don't think I'd change the order of my top 6 given what I know today.

It was more then that. You went hard on it. You basically said he should just stand in the corner. You said “He couldn’t put the ball on the floor” you were adamant. You basically pigeon holes him into only being a spot up shooter.
While Klay might be the best spot up shooter on the planet, your view would have stunted him. Glad he didn’t listen to you.

You don't remember Rubio or Simmons eh? The shot wasn't busted and Lonzo's shot has improved a lot. Both those things were fairly obvious to anyone paying attention. Bottom line LaMelo is a basketball genius with great size for the position.
What do you do with Curry if you draft LaMelo? You can say they can play together. OK, what do you do next year with Klay back? Put him on the bench? And what do you do at C? They got great, unexpected opportunity to draft very promising C. I don't doubt that whatsoever, no matter what Ball does. I expect Curry to be 7-12 from 3 on the game to game basis. Wake me up when we have nearly the same expectations from Ball.
These questions are so dumb. The dude could be an All-Star *this* season at age 19. He's ridiculously talented. You don't worry about fit with a talent like that, and it wouldn't even be an issue. The best lineups would have Steph/Melo/Klay/Wiggins/Draymond anyway. Use your imagination for like a few seconds to figure it out.
Lol are we watching the same Lamelo? Playmaking ball dominant guards with **** defense in this era of basketball

Yeah ARE WE watching the same Lamelo?! I keep hearing this 'ball dominant guard' talk when referring to Lamelo. He is not ball dominant at all. The ball zips around with Lamelo on the court. This narrative keeps coming up and I'm guessing posters don't watch him

Re: 2020 Draft Thread, Part 2
He isn't ball dominant per se, but he needs the ball to pass through his hands to effect a game. He isn't an X-factor setting screens, and nobody is worried about him coming off pin downs, for example. But he isn't a ball pounding iso player.cdubbz wrote:Jester_ wrote:EvanZ wrote:

Melo and amare should thrive in this offense. If Jeremy Tyler and cole Aldridge looked that good in summer league then us knick fans have a lot to be excited about. Make room for all the bandwagoners when we take off

People still bashing LaMelo are expressing nothing more than stupidity and jealousy. Over his last 14 games (ever since the Hornets removed his training wheels), Melo is averaging 19 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals per game while shooting .46/.41./.85
