Now that Wentz and Philly have no buyers. Would be nice to get him for a 2nd or 3rd.

I'd almost rather suck it out, and pick at the top end of the '22 draft vs giving up assets to move up. I get the feeling that the McCaskey's like them and their job isn't in as much danger as the external pressure that's being put on them, so they may not feel the need to make any drastic moves yet. I don't envy Pace or Nagy right now, they've got some tough decisions to make.
Screw Pace.
He waited 3 years to draft the perfect quarterback. He managed to draft the only failure out of 3 players. He chose the oldest, with the worst resume, and show least amount of leadership. Plus he gave up assets to get him.
Pace has been a drafted one real pro bowler. The players who stepped up were signed, traded for, or were drafted prior to his arrival.
He also stupidly has miss manage the cap. Pace deserves to be fired.
You nailed it this is why the Bears should fired Pace

NFL.com ranked the QBs. Bad news, Trubisky outranked Minshew and Wentz. Also bad news, Trubisky was 31st ranked. RG3 is still in the league too.

That would require Mitch to re-sign with the Bears, which I believe we all know that literally is not going to happen.
And Carson Wentz apparently prefer going to Indy. Well, I prefer him going to Indy, also. Bears should aim higher (no I am not talking about Mitch's overthrows) than Carson Wentz.

smith noted that trubisky had a better year than wentz (who would not be as mobile behind a questionable O-line) as why he thought trubisky would be back. i don't think that he is factoring in ryan pace's mindset/contract status

SI reporter on Cowherd:
"I think Chicago is the frontrunner this morning, and I do know there's a feeling inside that building from Ryan Pace, from the coaching staff, Matt Nagy, John DeFilippo [...] they believe, mechanically, they can fix him.
"I think the issue right now, Colin, is where Carson Wentz wants to go. I think it's become pretty clear he'd rather go to Indianapolis, and I think part of it now, for the Eagles, is, 'Alright, if our best return now is Chicago over Indy, then we need to convince Carson Wentz, this is the only place you're going, bud, and you need to buck up and accept this, and realize the Bears are going to give you a good chance.'
"I think it's pretty clear at this point that the Bears have pushed harder than the Colts to get Carson Wentz. [...] I think the Bears would like to at least know that Carson Wentz is on board before pulling a trigger on a trade."

Two opinions talking past each other, not at each other. The level of bears interest in Wentz has no effect in the accuracy of Wentz not wanting the bears.

Bears 2019/20; George McCaskey is on the clock
Sounds like maybe the talk of Wentz to Bears might have been from Philly to get the Colts to up their offer. I don't think it's working.

Does not sound like the Bears will get Wentz, which is probably the best news so far in the off-season for the Bears. IDK what the Bears will do at QB (especially since it was reported a while ago that Pace was going to be "aggressive" at the position this off-season). I hate safe but the most pragmatic thing to do is to sign a guy like Fitzpatrick or Taylor and draft a QB early. I still prefer an OT in the first, so maybe a QB in the 2/3 rounds?

They'll probably overpay for Carr.

I am newer to paying this much attention to football. We do need a franchise quarterback but we also need an offensive line to protect him. It feels like a 2 year process because we need so much work and only have so many resources.
Maybe we address the o-line this year, rolling with Foles at QB and look for that QB next year? Pace shouldn't be around so maybe the new GM addresses the issue?

The Bears probably won't get a franchise QB until they tank. Right now, I want competent QB play.

I think the interior (Mustiper/Daniels/Whitehair) of the line is solid and I have no issues there. The Bears cannot go into the season with Leno/Massie as your tackles, regardless on who the QB is. Which is why OT should be the Bears pick in the first rd. There's going to be a few real good OT available, so there is no excuse.

Foles is worse than Trubisky. If Pace wants to get fired then yes that is an option. But if he wants to squeeze a bit more time working for this team he will have to make an upgrade at that position. A convincing upgrade.
And as far as the Oline. We saw massive improvements just from play calling changes as well as plugging in Mustipher to some dead weight getting injured. We'll get Daniels back and getting rid of some of the turn styles like Leno, Massie, and Coward will help. I would love to get a LT early in the draft and maybe sign another OT.
Both areas need improvement. But I don't think we need to skip QB this year just to rebuild the Oline. And I don't think Pace has the time to wait either.

All of the buzz is coming from Philly, there should be zero desperation from the Bears (and Indy) in this instance because they can go through FA or the Draft to get a QB whereas Philly pretty much needs to rid themselves of Wentz by March 19th.
