I'd have us favourites.

Suns won 9 of last 10, full strength, home court
Nets won 3 of last 7, without Durant, Dinwiddie and Claxton, away b2b

Really wanted KD to play in this game to really see how good this Suns team can be

Even if KD played can't see a different scenario then our previous game vs Philly. We have defensive stoppers while Nets are all about scoring. Suns should finally put up 130 can't wait to see that.

Danger game.

You laugh at their defense but they have 3 guys who could drop 50 on you. We are favorites but the Nets are working hard to find the right way to use their big 3, and are now coming off a game where they dropped 134 on the Warriors where Kyrie and KD got 20+ and Harden dropped 19 pts 16 ast.

I understand that their trio can pour in 100+ easily but keep in mind KD is going to miss his next two games. And this isn't the same Rockets Harden that scored 35+ points a game. He's actually happy that he doesn't need to be the ONLY focal point on offense and has scored ONLY three 30+ games in 14 games total for the Nets. They're still trying to find their chemistry and its gonna take longer than 14 games to mesh coherently. Also, Suns are rolling so that plays a huge factor as well.

This is a game that I think is going to show what kind of playoff coach Monty can be.

We're on a winning streak, we've won some big games recently, the general mood around the team is really good and positive. It would be natural for the guys to relax and say, 6-0 so far on this home stand is better than anyone expected, we're playing good ball, we're healthy again.....and then lay an egg against a very dangerous Nets team.

On the flip side, you HOPE that Monty, Crowder and CP3 are in everyone's grill talking about we haven't accomplished **** yet, that we need to come out hungry and that 6-1 on this home stand is not acceptable and we need to finish it off.

If we see a team playing like the latter scenario, I have high hopes for how we'll do in the playoffs. If we struggle to get going or effort seems lagging, then I think we will be a team that is just happy to make the playoffs and make an early exit.

Monty won’t do it, and who am I to challenge rotations during a 9-1 stretch, but I think the following man assignments might be optimal:

Ayton on Jordan
Mikal on Harris
Crowder on Harden
Booker on Green
Paul on Kyrie

Nets with Harden driving the bus are going to put Frank in high PnR actions to death, and he cannot survive on an island against Harden. Crowder and Book can at least survive.

I also like the idea of putting Mikal on Harris as he is extremely aware of off ball responsibilities, works hard and runs off ball, can get thru and around off ball screens, and has length to contest and prevent Harris from even getting shots off.

Crowder isn’t an elite POA defender but he’s at least strong and disciplined and Harden’s “primary” doesn’t guard him as much as the switch will on a PnR, anyway.

Pretty sure Mikal will be on Harden and Paul obviously on Kyrie...those are two of the best defenders at their position...Crowder can help double Harden which would leave Green open..and he's been shooting well from 3 (over 42%) but not like Harris at over 49% from 3 (which is insane this far into the season) so Booker HAS to stay on Harris...that is key...this team could KILL us with 3 pointers. I would probably just single cover everyone as much as possible since we have Paul and Bridges.

That’s kind of my point. He’s not as bad as he used to be, but Booker is not a hyper aware off-ball defender. I’d rather he chase around Green than Harris. Mikal, otoh, is a top-flight off-ball defender and locks in and focuses on that a ton. He’s much less effective as an on-ball guy. And Harden will basically cook him when he ISOs (or just send him away with PnR.)

Having Mikal “on” Harden doesn’t mean much because Harden will get his switch ~every time, which negates Mikal’s ability to track him. If Harden was playing off ball, then I would want Mikal as his primary every time.

We should probably just play zone and man-mark Harris.

Negates Harden and Kyrie’s ability to get you in foul trouble and also basically takes away their pnr game.

Are we expecting Kaminsky to start?

Monty seems to keep things as is if we're winning.

He only plays the start of each half, and we seem to be starting well with him. so why not ride it while it works.

At worst we take some minutes off the legs of our key guys come the end of the season.

Starting Tank almost appears to be as a way to get the passing game going and getting the ball and players moving around the keyway.

Tank is driving and/or looking for cutting players so it's causing players to get into dangerous positions in hope of Tank's good passing skills of late being used to get them an open shot.

Compare that with a Crowder who is a catch-and-shoot player and doesn't move much with the ball and almost never with the ball, so it causes players to run to specific positions and rely on just Paul to find them the ball. Much easier to defend than when everyone is moving with and without the ball.
