Nash likely isn't going to play anyone we're signing off the scrap heap unless we have no choice. Like, guys are in foul trouble, or we're resting players. And then if they give us good minutes, then maybe he'll experiment with them more and more. That's what got Brown a spot in the rotation. That's what got TJ a spot in the rotation.
Let's keep it in perspective. Nobody around the league wanted these guys. They were free agents for a reason. And they're not unknowns, they've been around the league for a while. Why should they get burn over guys that have been part of the rotation and actually have chemistry developed with our main guys already?
Especially since Pelle and Vonleh aren't necessarily an upgrade over Green on the defensive side of the ball. I don't think Nash has some bias against defensive role players, he just doesn't think they're rotation-level players at this point, and I can't blame him.
As for not wanting to play DeAndre...he's getting over 21 mpg, and he played 27 minutes last night. Played 36 minutes the game he played before that. He's getting plenty of playing time.
The problem with DeAndre is that he often hasn't played any better defense than what we get out of Jeff Green, and Jeff Green gives us a lot more on offense. Again, this isn't a bias against defensive players...it's a bias against guys that don't contribute on either side of the ball, and I can't blame Nash for not wanting to play useless players.
