Being rookie of the year is nice. Being on a all rookie team is nice. But in all honesty it means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Does anyone care that Lauri was a first team all nba rookie? Did it really affect Domantas Sabonis who didnt make any rookie teams?

How bout Josh Jackson and Dennis Smith Jr who have been out of the league made all rookie 2nd teams?

With that said, I think Pat has all the tools to be really successful down the line. He has basically everything you would want going forward. Its up to him to realize his full potential but its also not a race for him to do so.

Most people have said he can be a franchise level player in 3 years. He might even get there sooner than that. We have to keep in mind he is 19 and doesnt even know who he is as a player yet.

Im just going to enjoy the ride.

I’m not worried about him. I knew he was a project when we drafted him and had already shown a lot more skills than he was billed to have. He is definitely kinda in that boat of sinking the starting lineup with Gafford and White right now though.

Not saying he should be a primary scorer like them right now, but if he wants to be more assertive on the court, he will need to call for the ball, especially when he's open or if he feels he has a mismatch because Zach and Coby can have tunnel vision at times. And if he gets into a passive habit, other players may assume he isn't looking to score.

I am happy to see him make a few shots, and he has tools and physical attributes to be very good, but we won't really know if he has the work ethic to become great for a couple years. After Tyrus, Doug and Lauri, I have become a bit hesitant to crown an rookie as likely becoming a star.
