Yes.

I don't think he is gonna throw away max money. He will be here for 5 years after this contract.

Just placed my last round of votes for Flight 8... I don't think he makes it as a starter however but high hopes for a spot on the bench.

Yes, we can offer him the most years and highest raises each year for the most money. But most guys would take a 2 +1 because they'll be eligible for a higher max in year 10. So what Kawhai did with the Clips.

So the money is the most gaurnteed money but is a little less than doing a 2 +1 and then a 5 year deal.

Does anybody else find it ludicrous that Zach may not make the game because of his defence when there is never a shred of defence played in an all star game.

I mean I get it from an overall player perspective but let's not pretend the All Star games care in the slightest about defence and wouldn't be better served with a two time dunk champion and scoring machine out there.

IMO, it's more about there being too many established stars now in the east.

There are 12 backcourt players in the all star game.

Zach is looking like the 5th highest vote getter in the East, and likely has even more support from players and coaches than he does fans.

How could he possibly not get chosen?

I won’t be shocked either way, but I think he will make it.

This is my prediction. He would end up being 13 or 14 player reserve, but someone will quit due to injury or covid and Zach will make his first all star appreance.

Name that man to the All-Star Team! He deserves it. As a non-American, it's crazy to me that Zach doesn't get the props that he deserves even though he's the star of one of the biggest media markets in the league. Meanwhile, anything the Knicks does gets talked about constantly by the NBA talking heads.

I could see that, although I would obviously love to see him make the initial roster. But it’s still 50/50 to me, there really are so many deserving players. It’s going to be tough.

Sadly, I don't think he makes it. You need to "break the glass ceiling" so to speak, and once you make it, that's huge. Seems "alumni" status is huge in selection...as well as team success as always. Here's my best guess on selections:

In (no particular order):
- Harden
- Durant
- Kyrie
- Beal (voted in)
- Giannis
- Middleton (benefits from team perception as contender, and 2x alumni status...should be a spot for a guy like Zach)
- Embiid
- Simmons (similar to Middleton)
- Tatum
- Brown
- Sabonis (better team record compared to Bulls + past appearance)
- Randle (strong stats, mild team success is a big surprise, NY always get overhyped)

Just outside:
- Trae Young (shiny, known name + past appearance + edit2: game's going to be in Atlanta I believe)
- Zach

I could see Randle or Middleton being flipped out for Trae. Hopefully Zach gets a nod over Trae because Bulls weren't expected to do anything, while Hawks were thought to be on the upswing, and they've stalled.

EDIT: Also...for this poll...it's ok to change your vote to "keep him." ;)

Zach should be ahead of Randle, Middleton and Sabonis.

It would be a bad business move for the NBA to give 9 of the Eastern Conference spots to 4 teams.

Last year, Zach did not deserve to be talked as a top NBA player--he was pretty much worthless if he did not go ISO.

This year's Zach is like a Klay on steroids. He's even trying on D and looks to have matured a ton. I don't know if Zach's a top 10 player, but he sure has played like one on O.
