why in the heck would we want to take on Griffin?

Future salary relief with potentially top 5 pick.
And Griffin is done with Pistons so you know it's aveliable trade option, unlike most stuff fans post.

Blake wants to go to a contender, so I don't think it will happen unless we agree to waive him right away.

There is no way how he can end up on contender without being vaiwed and as far as i saw, Pistons won't do it because of salary.
They are looking to trade him, and there is no contender in nba that can burn $35M on him.

No one is going to trade him. He’ll continue to sit and Detroit will buy him out.

He will ultimately end up on one (after a buyout) but why would Detroit (or anyone ) care what he wants while he’s sapping half your payroll and not able to contribute? I don’t even understand the big “sitting him” statement...any trade involving him is money and picks related, not to get Blake Griffin....no offense Blake

No contender would probably want him, his decline this year has been sharp. Not much left to give and what he can give, others do cheaper.

Remembering all hot takes how we were "better without Evan" last year.

Interesting how nobody will come, from those posters and admit bias and how stupid those arguments were.

3-11 without him
8-7 with him.

I am shocked at Fournier's efficiency in his first game back. It is really quite something.,

My tin foil hat conspiracy theory, based on no evidence whatsoever, is that they've been holding Fournier out for a trade and that he is not injured at all.

I think that they've agreed with Evan to trade him to a contender before the deadline.

During his first leave, he was on French interviews, shirtless and lying on a resting board (a bit like a chiropractor's table). That leads me to believe that Fournier does (or at least "did") have real back issues.

He absolutely does, he was really gimping around, in obvious pain, during that last game before he went out. Back pain sucks, but it can come and go depending on the issue/treatments, not a certain path with those kind of issues.

If they wanted to do that, they would have come up with another type of fake injury. Any back issues are a major red flag for an NBA player and lower his trade value.

Umm, I am one of those posters and would suggest that using the data from this year is garbage since we don't have Isaac, Fultz, and Gordon.

Evan's injury usage being gobbled up by Gary Clark, MCW, and James Ennis probably not the best argument.

When we had Fultz and Gordon this year with no Evan we were 2-1.

We won 2 against cleveland and lost against okc which is not impressive. We are clearly a better team with Fournier and Gordon doesnt make much difference.

Our wins with Evan without Fultz are: MIN, CHA, CHI, NYK.
Our wins with both are: MIA, WAS, WAS, OKC

Orlando is just not good and we only beat bad teams. We beat bad teams more when Evan is out and the rest of our core is healthy (though last year we did beat the Lakers in LA minus AD with Evan out and the rest of the core healthy).

Last year we were 5-2 without Evan. (Notable wins @ LAL, @ HOU, @ MEM)
We were 28-38 with Evan.

What the FO should do-> Trade Fournier, Birch bare minimum stuff.

What the FO will do -> Not move anyone, re sign Fournier, push for playoffs call it a great building year for the future

i'm sure they are somewhat aware that yet another run it back season is unacceptable from the fans....but we'll see what they end up doing, iirc weltham only have a 5 year contract so.....
