Wouldn't say that in the slightest, like I said above Thad Young is playing excellent well-rounded basketball and has been every bit as impressive.

The only thing Clarkson is producing better than him is points and he's doing that with significantly more usage (28.3%) to Thad's (18.5%).
Nah the gap is significant, and he's doing it on a much better team.

Need to change the poll. Wood has no chance of winning this now. Randle would be a better choice. Jaylen Brown too. But Grant is still the clear leader imo.

Clarkson is making the 6th award and mote point though. He’s a stud. Barring injury, this award race is over.

Starting to sound like election campaign manager talk and rhetoric. Please allow us to look at the league.

LaVine should be kept an eye on. Check his last 20 games out for a hint.

On the season LaVine is 52/43/85.
Career wise he's been 45/38/82.

How's that for improvement so far?

Team is irrelevant and Clarkson only offers scoring which is the same thing you shot the Melo suggestion down.

Thad is giving a bit of everything and doing it more efficiently and without the heavy usage.

I think Randle deserves more love for MIP.

Make the playoffs and he'll get consideration. Otherwise they will assume he is just a garbage time monster.

Gary Trent Jr. deserves a mention as a nominee for MIP. PPG: 15.3, % 44/45/78 Been playing great defense and a big factor in why the Blazers are 4th in the West despite missing CJ, Nurk and Collins

Randle as MIP and Clarkson as 6MOY seem like the clear choices right now.

Clarkson is running away with 6MOY now and Grant has separated himself from Wood a little bit, imo. Still plenty of time left in the season though

Randle has a pretty low to no chance at most improved because he’s already had 2 really good statistical seasons in the past. Same reason Jaylen Brown won’t win it.

Randle 2019
21/9/3/1/1 on 54/33/73. Per 21, TS 60%, 1.5 BPM

Randle 2021
23/11/6/1/0 on 48/41/80, Per 20.7, TS 59%. 4.2 BPM

Grant 2019
14/5/1/1/1 on 49/39/78, Per 13.8, TS 59%, 0.2 BPM

Grant 2021
24/5/3/1/1 on 44/38/88, Per 18.1, TS 57%, 2.2 BPM

Agreed. I don't really care about these awards even if Grant plays for my team, but I can't see in any universe how anyone else wins this award if Grant keeps this up.

No one, and that means all humans, except for maybe Grant himself, saw him putting up the numbers he is now.

He also isn't just putting up bigger numbers, but solidifying himself as not only a legitimate starter, but even a 2nd, or 3rd option for a title team. If he continues this next year, and the Pistons improve(draft selection dependant)he could also get an all star nod.

To me, this isn't even a contest unless Grant starts slipping big time.

At the end of 3 quarters Thad is proving why yet again he should be right up there for 6MOTY.

15/8/5 in 18 minutes.

Get the f*** out of here with this Clarkson is a lock crap.

Thad is the best bench player in the NBA. His all around game has been incredible this season.

Hardaway is now coming off the bench for the Mavs in a 6th man spark plug role. He hasn't lost a beat in this new role. Still getting high minutes. Averaging 17/3/1.5 on good percentages.

Is it fair though to have Clarkson in both? 6MOTY for sure but the jump he did from the trade to the bubble and now this year scoring-wise is still significant, plus his defense and other aspects, especially playmaking, has significantly improved to be considered in the MIP

Lavine should be in the conversation for MIP as he has improved across the board from previous years and also showing with the team progress as well.

He went from borderline all-star level to now borderline superstar level this year. I am not kidding with the borderline superstar status as there are only a VERY few in the HISTORY of the NBA who has put up these numbers at that kind of efficiency - Curry won the MVP with those kind of numbers. Only difference is that Lavine's 2nd best player on the team is 32 year old Thadeous Young.

2020-21: 29ppg 5.3rpg 5apg on 52.3% fg, 44% 3pt, 87% ft with really improved defense.

2019-20: 25.5ppg 4.8rpg 4.2apg on 45% fg, 38% 3pt, 80% ft with below average defense.

As you can see, he has improved across the board while Grant has improved his offense but on lower efficiency - basically more usage/shots on a bad team with no other option. Still good and not trying diminish what he is doing but comparing to Lavine? I like Lavine's better.
