We dont have any use for Cousins. He plays no defense and has been terrible offensively. Howard is much better. Maybe a team that needs some size will take him and hope for the best but i dont think he can offer much. He is not doing anything useful on the court.

Cousins is better than Dwight and fits better in bench units.

And Dwight isn't?
At least Cousins makes sense with Embiid on the bench

Neither excite me, but I can see a scenario where he can at least contribute positively as an energy big that defends and rebounds hard in spurts, like he did for the Lakers last year. And he gave them very valuable minutes and a dynamic against the Nuggets & Jokic that really tilted the series, especially because the refs clutch their whistles more come April/May/June. Boogie can't move, can't defend and shooting god awful percentages; he hasn't provided anything positive in years now, not since his achilles went poof anyways.

I just do not agree. Dwight has been terrible this season.

Demarcus' name value is the most exciting part about him. He's essentially a 2019 Greg Monroe tier liability. If we're trying to make bench upgrades we may as well chase that stretch 4. Bjelica or whoever would at least work with Ben or Embiid and would provide something the reserve unit is lacking. Hell I'd rather sign Dedmon off the street or give Paul Reed minutes.

It cannot be understated how bad Dwight has been on offense. I don't think I've ever seen anyone perform that poorly on the NBA level.
The only reason to keep Dwight over Cousins is if Dwight is providing locker room appeal. Otherwise, he's a sometimes good defender who forces at least 1 to 2 five minute flagrant foul official reviews a game. That alone is disqualifying.

I feel like Cousins is Dwight before he realized his place and put his ego in check. And maybe still not as valuable as that anyway.

All I know is Howard is a damn sight better than Amir Johnson or Kyle O'Quinn.

He embodies the type of center we need to play with Ben when Embiid is off the court. He also can put the ball on the ground without everyone having to hold their breath. His stats suggest he's better on BOTH ends of the court compared to Dwight and while turning it over far less. Once again, the only reason one could conceivably consider Dwight over DeMarcus is locker room/continuity.

Ugh just imaging Boogie coming here and spamming 3's alongside Korkmaz and Matisse off the bench is making me dizzy. Pls Boston or Brooklyn, get that done.

Will Cousins be okay with being a third string center where he'll play in games where we need scoring from the bench or when Embiid sits?
Dwight is the perfect center in the lineup where we put tobias with the second unit but when Ben is playing with the second unit, his fit with dwight is not the most compatible lineup.

Feels like he's going back to the Lakers

I mean if you could get a guy like Cousins to buy in and come for cheap with no ego it would be obvious. I don't think that works for him though.

I thought Cousins looked decent against Jo.... And Dwight has been awful since a solid start.
I think Cousins is a considerably better offensive player and fit.
Knowing that Jo and Cousins will both miss a decent amount of time, if Dwight is alright with being a 3rd stringer I'd keep him on the roster.

Doesn't he have like the same exact contract as Howard?
Also, I'd only take him if we were moving on from Howard. Therefore he'd have near the same mpg he did in Houston (20 mpg) and an opportunity to start some games when Embiid is sitting. I know it's not going to happen, but his skillset makes more sense than Dwight's for this team, imo.

I don't know what people want out of a backup center if Howard isn't doing it.

Sure, if Dwight shot 8 threes per 36
