For a team built around its big man, this is a great hire!

He interviewed for Wolves job in 2019 by Rosas. But I bet Taylor wanted his man. Now looks like Taylor was ready to move on and Rosas got his man.

Does seem solid. I feel more at ease in knowing that he wasn't just a knee-jerk hire and is actually someone who ha been vetted and was considered for the job back in 2019. So at least he's not unknown to the front office.

Lillard went strong on Twitter.

Weird not to give him the reigns...

Yes. That surprised me. Maybe he didn’t want to captain the sinking ship?

Shocking news. KAT has to have yet another coach. Surprised Rosas did this now as he could have bought himself some more time if he let Ryan stay on longer. Very sad for Ryan, he loved it here and this was a dream job. He's going to be hurting. This makes me think Rosas has been planning this for some time, he clearly really likes Finch, I was holding out for Jorger still but here we are. I hope to see some improvement but I don't know, we shall see. Good luck to Ryan.

This is definitely interesting. Both guys have been highly thought of in coaching circles. I just think Finch's background as a big man developer is more intriguing for a roster built around Towns.

Chris Finch would ball Ryan Saunders on the court

Finch is a 1992 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he was an NCAA Division III All-American in 1991 and 1992.

In 1991, as one of the best defenders in the nation's third division, he helped lead the F&M Diplomats to the NCAA Division III championship game in Springfield, Ohio, where the team lost to Wisconsin-Platteville.

Finch ranks among the school's all-time leaders in points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals.

Also the irony that he gets fired after a loss to Thibs. Thibs probably gets a small kick out of that.

Rosas never wanted Ryan. But you know who runs things on this franchise.

Yeah, Jorger would be another man Taylor would have a boner for

My early theory is that Rosas never wanted Ryan, but Taylor really wanted him to keep Ryan. I said maybe Rosas will throw Ryan to the wolves so he can fire Ryan in a year or so without any issues. I was talked off that theory but now I'm starting to think maybe that was the plan after all.

Even though I thought it should happen, I’m genuinely shocked that it did.... Good luck to Ryan in whatever he does now. Seemed a great guy, just not an NBA HC at all.

To me, this Timberwolves coaching change now tells me that originally keeping on Saunders was more Taylor than Rosas (I never really had an opinion one way or another previously). If it wasn't, I think Vanterpool would've been promoted. But it seems Rosas got the guy he wanted all along.....

Not surprised about firing. Surprised Vanterpool wasn't interim hire though. Dont know enough about Finch to make a decision but do feel like any GM/POBO should always get opportunity to hire their guy when they come on board. Maybe Glen did make Ryan a prerequisite or Rosa's knew it was going to be a rebuild and was going to go through a HC before remodeling the roster and go with his guy.

Sooooo...now that Rosas got his man I expect him to start making moves quickly to balance out the roster and bring in a starting caliber PF (although I do like what Vandy has been doing , holding down the fort).

Read on Twitter

This point is interesting to me. Does the impending ownership transfer actually make it more necessary for Rosas to see progress NOW? I know the focus would be squarely on him now, but I think it would be anyways after the sale. This gives him a little time for the team to grow and improve before the sale.

Also tells me tanking has not been the modus operandi here. Status quo would be kept if it were.
