Apparently, Memphis poached Lionel Hollins from another team mid-season a couple of decades ago.

Ouch, when you realize 2009 is considered "a couple of decades ago".

Oh I agree but I wanted to ask a fan who is more attached. I’d call in various religious leaders to preform any and all cleansing rituals they think might help as well.

So .. Kyrie Irving to come smudge the place. That should work.

Gotdang they must've interviewed Finch back when they were in Minny the other day. It seems uncommon to have a midseason hire from another team.

kind of bs that Raptors don't at least get a 2nd rounder as compensation since it's midseason

I know, right?I'm happy for him to get the promotion- solid dude as far as I could tell. However, he now knows all our wrinkles , and has all this friendly fire fodder at his disposal. I'd expect the Timberwolves to play us better next time round. Seems like bad business to give away your recipes for free. As a gesture of good faith I'd like to see rights to swap 2nds or something along those lines.

Interesting..so Saunders knew he was coaching his final game. It explains why Rubio was smiling towards the end of the Knicks game despite being down.

How much offence can a coach implement in 2months? His departure is being overstated

A lot of posters here aren't viewing Finch as a human being. He's getting a chance to get one of the top 30 jobs (for a coach) in the NBA. Why would the Raptors, as a class organization, block such a move to haggle over a 2nd round pick? That's a sure way to prevent future talents from coming here. It really shows a lot of posters have never worked in the real world. People come and go. Would you want an employer who blocks your growth at every turn? I know I wouldn't.

Even if future persons come here and use the Raptors as a spring board, it still means such persons would've contributed positively if someone wants to poach them. Generally, you want to add talented people, not lose out on them.

Of course, there is something to be said about continuity and we don't want to create a revolving doors of mercenaries. However, from listening to Nurse speak on this issue, he seems fine with it. Therefore, we should applaud the fact that the Raptors are seen as a positive platform for talented individuals.

I would understand the ire if Finch were leaving for a lateral move or a downgrade (i.e. another assistant coaching job or becoming a video analyst respectively). However, it would reflect really badly if we made promotions difficult.

Exactly, he hasn't had an opportunity to add too much to what we're doing... We won't miss him much in that regard. He has however taken in how we operate and now works for the competition... Seems worthy of compensation to me..

Minny should send Nurse a case of Fisherman's Friends, at least.

They own the most favorable 2022 2nd of Philly or Denver. That won't be good. Almost certainly 45th pick and likely worse. It would be a nice goodwill gesture if they handed that over. But really this is like asking for payment from a homeless guy.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

The timing of this all is very curious. Saunders was fired and Finch was hired all within a day or two in season.

It's either tampering or super shady on the TWolves part to be actively searching for a coach while Saunders was still around.

No - that's a stretch. I gave you an +1 for putting words in my mouth, you deserve it.

I'm wondering why Raptors didn't fight to keep Finch. He's supposed to be the orchestrator of the offense this season. Why would you let him go when you're down a couple of coaches? It's possible that they didn't mind him leaving and that could be due to friction in vision or personality which is a possibility.

Finch also could've taken the job before the season - why now? There are some unanswered questions there. However I like your story much better than mine, it's waaaaayyyy more interesting. Please do your Wandavision and tell me what I am actually saying.

this poster lmaoo
