this is the worst mvp race in recent memory...no one has stepped up and dominated.. every candidate this year has a major flaw or two. As of right now no one deserves the MVP award.

You and I have very different views of what makes a good race, and mine doesn’t include watching the award get decided in December which happens a majority of the time. To me, that’s boring. This is fun.

As for nobody deserving the award? I see about 7-8 players who deserve the award. Players putting up MVP type numbers on winning trams. Maybe you’re just a glass half empty type?

I think Jokic and Embiid - in that order - are the only two who have played at a truly "MVP level" over the course of the entire season so far. That's an extremely high level, of course. It's historical, by definition.

That said, I generally agree with your point: there are a bunch of players who are still within striking distance, so to speak. It feels very wide open at this point, and that's a lot of fun.

Than just give the mvp to Rudy gobert or Donovan Mitchell.

It’s a weird mvp year. Give it to one of the best guys on the best team.

Kobe didn’t even come top 3 in voting that year....

Suns had the second best record in the west and third best In the league.. With Amare going down..

And of course the fact Nash is a significantly better player than goober and Mitchell.

I think this should be a year where nobody gets it. Kinda like when no one gets into the Baseball Hall of Fame because they didn't get enough votes. Nobody has done enough to earn it IMO.

This is a pretty good MVP race IMO. It's interesting at the very least.

Interesting that Harden is actually somewhat in the conversation, at least among the non-favorites. But I see no scenario where he finishes top 3 assuming the current trend continues.

I had Embiid early and continue to think he will win it unless Philly slides in the standings.

Jokic looks good but winning will always matter. Being a 7th seed really isn't going to get it done against a guy who is having a historic year in his own right and leading a conference.

I dunno Harden may surprise a few.
May not win it. But he’ll probably end up playing the most, lead the team to the 1 seed (Durant/Irving will miss chunks of games), and certainly does bring MVP impact/numbers.

24/8/12 on an absurd 50/40/90, 66ts%, 129 Ortg and a very low usage rate of 25+% for a super star is definitely MVP level no question. Doesn’t have the narrative but when you think about it he can certainly backend to a top 3 finish easy because of his huge uptick.

yeah Harden pissed me off for flopping but he deserves to be in the MVP race.......without him and kyrie/KD missing games the Nets would be like 10-19 lol

It's obvious that Jokic is tiring in the last week, as he is looks lackadaisical and not rebounding and shooting enough . He needs some rest.

Harden without KD went 32 points 11 assists 9 boards 55 percent from the field and 49 from the 3pt line . Also carried his team to 4-0 win loss record.

And Harden without KD has done some serious work.
KD/Leonard/Embiid I believe will miss too many games. Health does play a big factor in MVP consideration.

So kawhi misses every other game and still slides into the top 3 but another loss means Lebrons outta the top 5 ? Lol

I do agree with people this is a close race so far and there’s heaps of viable candidates.

Also agree with the notion it’s a really weak year for mvp and all the candidates have some negative against them. Harden of the last couple of years would be winning this race by a mile.

Probably gonna come home very strong but still gonna take a while to kill the early season narrative. Could easily see him top 3

In a tight race, a bigger number of realistic candidates for the MPV means an easier win for Lebron James. The narrative votes will all go to him and those more oriented to real production on court will split their votes among several candidates.

When you have lying scumbags like Nick big nose Pinocchio Wright with no morals off course the narrative will always be in LeBron fave. Then you have another charlatan like Cowherd who is LeBrons dik rider

That team was 6-6 record wise. Since the trade and harden taking over the offense, every offensive statistical category has improved including team and players efficiency has sky rocketed thanks to harden playmaking and taking over the offense. What he has done is insane. If he keeps this up for the rest of the year he will be not only in tje mix he would be one of the front runners

Yeah it’s very weird to me how Harden just gets dismissed right off the bat. I get the narrative perspective (was super early in the year) Durant/Irving has already missed a chunk of games. Dinwiddie missing too.

He’s arguably the best offensive weapon in the game right now. Watch him take off the next 20 or so games. We are talking about a guy who has finished top 3 (won 1 could’ve easily been more) 5 times in like what 6 years? East will be a cakewalk for him if history is anything to go by. Absurd offensive talent.

32/11/8 type statline from here on out wouldn’t surprise me, but it’s very surprising how it’s like a normal thing without media attention lol. It’s very dismissive imo

Watch him drop a 40 point triple double or something ridiculous soon. People will be like yeah well it’s Harden, stacked team yadadada. Have you seen the roster outside of the big three that hasn’t even played together much? Ain’t exactly world beaters.

Other player does that praises are sung. For Harden it’s like it’s expected to do that on the regular, weird.
