That team was 6-6 record wise. Since the trade and harden taking over the offense, every offensive statistical category has improved including team and players efficiency has sky rocketed thanks to harden playmaking and taking over the offense. What he has done is insane. If he keeps this up for the rest of the year he will be not only in tje mix he would be one of the front runners

Yeah it’s very weird to me how Harden just gets dismissed right off the bat. I get the narrative perspective (was super early in the year) Durant/Irving has already missed a chunk of games. Dinwiddie missing too.

He’s arguably the best offensive weapon in the game right now. Watch him take off the next 20 or so games. We are talking about a guy who has finished top 3 (won 1 could’ve easily been more) 5 times in like what 6 years? East will be a cakewalk for him if history is anything to go by. Absurd offensive talent.

32/11/8 type statline from here on out wouldn’t surprise me, but it’s very surprising how it’s like a normal thing without media attention lol. It’s very dismissive imo

Watch him drop a 40 point triple double or something ridiculous soon. People will be like yeah well it’s Harden, stacked team yadadada. Have you seen the roster outside of the big three that hasn’t even played together much? Ain’t exactly world beaters.

Other player does that praises are sung. For Harden it’s like it’s expected to do that on the regular, weird.

The beginning of the season counts also, when Harden went to strip clubs during training camp, violated COVID protocols, showed up out of shape, and dogged games in Houston.

Lebron w/o Davis

5W-5L (included game with DEN)
7 games at home
8 games against <50% winning teams

Curry/Lillard looks like real MVP candidates in this case.

Ramona Shelburne is another one, last season she stated she was a narrative based voter and voted for LeBron because he had the narrative.

Embiid
Jokic
Lillard
Kawhi
Lebron
Giannis

is the current list imo...refs really screwed Kawhi last night..he wins it and he slides to 3

So kawhi misses every other game and still slides into the top 3 but another loss means Lebrons outta the top 5 ? Lol

why is Embiid leader then if he missed more games than Kawhi? Lebum with another L...love seeing bronsexuals see their hope vanishing lmao

Interesting that Harden is actually somewhat in the conversation, at least among the non-favorites. But I see no scenario where he finishes top 3 assuming the current trend continues.

I had Embiid early and continue to think he will win it unless Philly slides in the standings.

Jokic looks good but winning will always matter. Being a 7th seed really isn't going to get it done against a guy who is having a historic year in his own right and leading a conference.

Harden, Durant and Kyrie all ruin each other’s chances, ultimately. The problem for Embiid is that Simmons will kind of affect his chances. His stats are way better when Simmons sits and they will never succeed teamwise while together.

Out? How?
Tied for 2nd best record in the league, playing in a stronger conference. 39 games left to play.
If he is out, how come the bookies let you quadruple your money on Embiid? 7x it with Jokic, 21x it with Lillard? Should I go on?

Betting odds != what bookies think of top guys' chances to win mvp right now. Bookies have to keep low odds on Lebron and high on the other guys so that they don't go bankrupt if Lebron manages to win, because there's already many people who gambled on Lebron when he was the frontrunner earlier in the season. You should read up on how bookies set betting odds, it doesn't work the way you think it works.

We're not even halfway through the season yet. Any player who has at least gotten some MVP buzz in the first half of the season can win the award if they go nuclear in the second part of the season. LeBron is definitely among the group of players that has played well enough for them to still be in the race after 20-30 games.

The funny thing about the narrative is that the Award voter is the one who tells it.

This is why I use a formula. I'm biased. I know I am. With a formula, I have the exact same standards this year that I had last year and the year before that and the year before that, etc.. If a player I don't like plays well enough, I (metaphorically) shake his hand and give him the award.

Bbref's MVP Tracker has:

Jokic = 38.4%
Embiid = 20.8%
Antetokounmpo = 9.0%
Leonard = 8.2%
James = 7.2%
Lillard = 5.8%

This is roughly accurate to what I would have right now. I have Jokic with a large lead - a little larger than the gap between second and third, even.

Jokic is hard one since they aren't close to what they were last year team wise. If they improve as a team and make to top 4 he is certainly leading.

lol lebrons been playing weak ass teams until now and he has a losing record against good teams..take also his bad shooting and turnovers..AD is the real MVP...they could lose 6 straight at this point and move down to 5th place

True but if Kawhi keeps winning he could take over..Clippers have an easy schedule coming up and they only lost like 5 times when PG/Kawhi are playing...Sixers arent consistent and lose every other game..Nets could take the 1st seed soon and Bucks are right behind too

He's putting up 28/8/8 on a team that's tied for the 2nd best record in the NBA, a team which is below average when he's off the court.

Oh please he is not helping them win games and getting exposed without AD. You really can’t see that? Nice
