Kristaps Porzingis Is Indeed Available

Post#1 » by OrangeBlueSkies » Tue Feb 23, 2021 3:06 pm

In fact, Dallas has quietly gauged the trade market for Porzingis, according to league sources, as the Mavericks have begun reevaluating whether the 25-year-old center can truly support Doncic as the second option on a contender. “They’ve kicked the tires on everybody on their roster that’s not named Luka,” one person with knowledge of Dallas’ thinking said. “You know [president of basketball operations] Donnie [Nelson]; they’re always tinkering.”

So they see what we see

Edit:

And Porzingis heard his name pop up in the trade rumor mill. Although Mavs owner Mark Cuban and coach Rick Carlisle publicly declared that the team had not engaged in trade discussions regarding Porzingis, the perception among executives around the league is that he is available.

What about Prozingis/Powell/Burke to Cleveland for Drummond/Nance/Windler and a 22 lottery protected 1st.

Mavs get off the contracts of KP and Powell and go into the off-season with much more flexibility. 60ish million in capspace, to start rebuilding a team around Luka while he's still the most underpaid player in the league.

Drummond/WCS/Boban
Nance/Kleber/Johnson
DFS/THj/Windler
Richardson/THj/Green
Luka/Brunson/Terry

Cavs unload Drummond for something and got with Okoro/KP/Allen as one of the best defensive pairings in the league to support their smaller Sexland backcourt.

Allen/KP/McGee
KP/Love/Wade
Okoro/Osman
Sexton/Dotson
Garland/Sexton/Burke
Go Knicks!

The Mavs will gladly accept a sack of potatoes for Kristaps.
If a trade were to happen, i think all it would take would be a bunch of expiring contracts plus a 1st round pick.

Celtics should make an offer

The problem is, if KP can't coexist with Luka then who can he play with? Assuming he ever actually plays and isn't injured.

To get out 33M dollar per year deal and build in one summer new team around Luka while on rookie deal. Yes that's something Dallas actually prefers. Specially if they can get 1st round pick in 2021 class. It gives them short reset button to properly build around Luka.

It's a bit longer road and more realistic than delusional hope that if they trade Zingis they will in return get a star.

Not surprised. Even when he’s healthy, the fit just isn’t there with Doncic. Glad they didn’t give up much for him, but I’m happy they’re admitting it now instead of 2 years from now. Curious to see what kind of value he has

The Mavs have a minus-4.7 net rating when he's on the floor.

In those 509 minutes, Dallas has allowed 119.5 points per 100 possessions, a mark that would leave the Mavericks nearly two full points worse than the 30th-ranked Sacramento Kings.

But some of us have been on this for a minute.

Read on Twitter

Mavericks' Defensive Rating is 11.8 points worse when Porzingis is on the court. Digging a little deeper into some advanced analytics, Porzingis is the second-worst defensive centre in the league according to Bball-Index's LERBON statistic and he's the worst defensive big according to FiveThirtyEight's RAPTOR statistic.

Hope the Spurs fascination with him has passed as I would not want him on the roster at his price. His defense is GOAT level bad

Porzingis would probably do really well there with an actual good coach. Wonder what Mavs would want though. I’d assume Wiseman/Wiggins?

What is the problem? Everyone knew that it was a big gamble. As with all gambles, sometimes they just do not work out.
If you're asking me who the Mavs best player is, I'd say Luka. A guy like Delon Wright probably rivals his impact though at this stage in his career. KP may as well if he gets his **** together.
