Re: Trade Talk (Part Six)
I'm curious how safe Rubio is. With DLo out for the foreseeable future he might be kept around for the season but I do wonder how much getting Rubio was Saunders vs Rosas. And given his large salary he's one of the best matches we have to get another high salary guy in.
Beyond him, Juancho and Davis combine to make about 11mil. Throw Culver in to get to 17-ish, so there's another avenue. Not sure who we'd go after at this point though.
Nance makes sense if he's available, if only because he's cheap and can reasonably hold down the starter position while McDaniels develops. Anyone else at PF cuts into McDaniels' time and I'm not interested in that. Outside of that I'm not sure what we're looking for. PG is covered between DLo and Rubio/JMac. The wings are loaded with Beasley, Edwards, Layman, Culver, Okogie and Nowell. At PF we could use an upgrade over Vanderbilt but not at the cost of McDaniels, and at C we've got KAT and Reid who, while no world beater, is a fine backup especially given his price.

I agree with you, but I think there are only a certain number of youth you can develop simultaneously. I felt bad for Rubio on the second unit last month, trying to simultaneously organize Naz, McDaniels, Culver, Edwards .. together averaging less than one year of experience.
We have many young players that need to develop. Even our older players like KAT and Malik have plenty of room to get better.
I agree on poor Rubio having to run the preschool lineup for a while there.

I can't help but wonder what GSW would give us to unprotect the pick this season. Doing so would allow us to trade our 2023 1st in a deal this season rather than 2024 being the first pick we could deal otherwise.

With Minnesota so young and the lottery being so volatile, I think GS would much prefer a chance at the No. 1 pick in 2022. They can just sit back, give up no asset and still get the top pick in a strong draft. If they get No. 4 they will be happy. If they get No. 1 in 2022, they will be happy.

They are not going to waive Nowell, not happening. I think they trade Okogie and Culver before they entertain that as an option.

Re: Trade Talk (Part Six)
I didn't think they were going to waive Jefferson either, so you never know, but Nowell is cheap, on a good contract and getting better. I think both of the Rosas' specials - Reid and Nowell - are staying.

Hi guys, just a quick question? How do you rate N. Reid, his value and availability? Thanks

I think Boston is looking like a better trade target. If we could move Ricky, Juancho, and Layman for Pritchard and a first that would be a steal.

In a vacuum, I think he warrants the typical back up center value, which equals “not much.” However, Reid has additional value because of his contract (vet min for three years, each year a team option), and additional value to Rosas, as a symbol of one of his (infrequent) successes. He probably wouldn’t give him up for less than a late 1st .. maybe two seconds if one was early enough, and in next year’s draft. Few teams should offer that much for Naz, including the Bulls.

Had this thought, not saying it is realistic just wanted an opinion on whether people would do it if it was possible.
Wolves send Ant, Rubio, Juancho to Mavs
Wolves get
KP and Jaylen Brunson.
FYI, the money does work, we actually save 1.3 million and it can be done anytime starting on March 3rd.

Short answer is no. Long answer is I don’t see the equivalence to my question. Trading for a legit center and young PG by sending away a high potential young 3 and a vet PG we don’t keep beyond this season. The hope is that KP gets better on defense when his knee heals. Even if it doesn’t we gain another 3 point shooter and high production offensive player who can also rebound. KAT and KP together would be glass cleaners and if you play MCD at 3 you actually outsize opponents which creates opportunities for Dlo and MB.
Imagine Dlo, Beasley, MCD, KAT, and KP and a second string of Brunson, Nowell, Culver, Layman, and Naz. Maybe replace Culver with Layman and sign RHJ. Now you got Brunson, Nowell, Layman, RHj, and Naz. Sounds better than what we have now.

Re: Trade Talk (Part Six)
I would trade Dlo for Otto Porter straight up.
I know we are not a Free agency destination but Dlo earning 30M per season in the next 3 years is just brutal.
I would rather have the cap flexibility over his contract moving forward.

KP, the guy that is always hurt/out missing long stretchings of games. That's all this team needs more of.
Jaylen Brunson, small like JMac who nobody here respects because of size.
Great Plan for a return on Ant/Rubio.

Brunson has better numbers across the board compared to JMAC and is 2 inches taller. That said, I just checked basketball reference, I didn’t know KP missed so many games in 2017-2018. I knew about the ACL and how he was struggling this season, but your right, this guy has serious issues with staying healthy. The problem is it is hard to find a true center who can give you 20/10 numbers.

Re: Trade Talk (Part Six)
Also, simple trades can be made.
Bjelica is right there available for a bag of peanuts.
If the idea of course is to improve right away.
I don't see the point thought.

The way I see it this season is done. Everything we plan must be to have a significantly better 21-22 season. Getting the culture to shift and getting guys to play defense comes from winning.

Brunson has a real role on his team. He's not the 4-5th pg on a two-way filling in for injuries. Brunson is getting 24 mins/g this year. JMac has never averaged even 20 from his team. Brunson is 6-1 190 and does not have "better numbers across the board" in his career. Assists, steals, blocks, turnovers - negatory. Maybe try not making false statements. Imagine how much you will scape goat and dismiss Brunson for defense once here because he's just another little guy. Jmac has only one game reaching 26 minutes this year. In 30 games so far this year Brunson has 12 games from 26-37 minutes, maybe 10 from 28-37 minutes. You give JMac those kinds of minutes and he does more with it, not to talk down Brunson. They both have usable skill play.
