Nash said he tweaked something, so we have another injured player. :(

I hope it's not serious, but it was serious enough to keep him out of the second half.

Of course nobody in the media bothered to ask in the post game presser, so I have no idea what it is. :nonono:

BTW this was a game we lose early in the season. It had all the earmarks of those dreadful losses when we were still trying to come together as a team. But now we have much better chemistry, so we bounced back after they made their runs and punched them in the mouth. This is a much different team now, even with all the injuries. Can you imagine how good we will be if and when we finally get everyone healthy? :o

Edit: Harden is a walking triple double and he does it effortlessly. DJ defense has stepped up, he's been starting the past 2 seasons rusty but seem to come along in the middle and end. He's been playing a lot better defense lately.

Brown is already a fan favorite, what a steal by Marks. That pick and roll with him is lethal, dude has a legit great touch around the rim and he's so active and bouncy, love that guy.

Glad Claxton got some burn tonight and TJ looks like he'll be in the rotation . Now that we waived 3 guys I wonder what's our next moves. Excited to see to see the new d league guy we signed. We still need some wing defenders. I would love another 6'8 forward guy like Green, Thad would be huge. It seems like Shump and Roberson might fight it out for a spot before we get some other guys.

Another causal 127 points. I just realized Shamet didn’t even truly play tonight. I know it was intentional to showcase Roberson and Shump but damn, that’s scary.

What a finish to a very competitive game. Kings played with heart this game, I agree this was the type of game we would have lost earlier like the Raptors game. The most important part is the team is gelling and engaged to win. Some of those plays where everyone touched the ball before getting it to Brown was just awesome to watch.

He isnt a rotational player on an NBA contender in my opinion. But they also are not doing him any favors asking him to be a rim protecting 5. You cant put a guy in a place were a weak piece of his game can be exploited. Same issue with claxton as green. 0 shot blocking and the opponent knows it. only at least green needs to be respected from three. one game from claxton so i wont beat him up on performance but we can probably do alot better

You two better hope Nash will play Jeff and DJ at five a lot. This is game one, guy didn't have hop or bounce in his step last night. I pretty confident Nic will be rotation guy for sure. He's 7ft high energy guy, basically 7ft Bruce Brown.

its a better vibe and creates energy but seriously... its complete nonsense. KD needs to sit 5 games because of some silly protocol. Kyrie cant swap jerseys with a guy he just played 40 minutes next to sweating and breathing on.... but we can have 300 random fans in the building, eating and drinking with masks off and thats ok?

and i dont want to hear some justification that "they got rapid tests" or "2 negative tests in 72 hours". its nonsense.

either actually try and be safe or dont. but dont pretend its about safety for PR and keep guys out of games and then have 300 rando's pile in. like what if we find out a group of those fans has covid?

They had people caught on camera without masks on in the building. A whole group of people (who were obviously well to do, so you know how little people like that care about others) just sitting there, maskless indoors. They have people near COURTSIDE.

This is a joke. Yet, we have KD sitting out with a hamstring because the NBA wants to pretend that they care about player safety.

All star game is next week in ATLANTA. Covid central. Good luck to our guys, but I'm sure James Harden will be making a stop at Magic City that weekend.

I'm sorry, this pandemic has made me lose a ton of respect for a lot of people and Adam Silver is one of them.

Claxton was fine last night and that was his first time playing in a year.

I liked what I saw from Claxton and Roberson, the rust was there but you can't deny the size, the athleticism and the activity they brought. That's exactly what this team needs, any offense that comes along with it is gravy on top.

I'm pretty confident Marks has something up his sleeve in the coming buyout market to grab another big and another wing - but you can definitely do worse than Claxton/Roberson/Shumpert as your 11th and 12th man come the playoffs.

We need a shot blocker. thats a weakness. I think offensively he can play the 5. he may not set the best picks but he can finish a lob. he may not be a great three point shooter but he can knock down some open ones.

The issue is a defense. he is really a small forward so he can stick on the permiter a bit. but like jeff green he provides 0 shot blocking or interior resistance and is just an ok rebounder. I think he is what he is. a 15th man type to get hype on the bench and fill in during injuries.

MY hope was he would turn into kurucs 2.0 as an uptemp combo 3/4 and maybe he still does but he is miscast as a center for sure

As I said, im not going to nitpick anyone after 1 game. its a small sample and the guy hasnt played in forever. Anything negative he did last night is irrelevant until it proves true in a larger sample. but he didnt help any of my concerns last night watching guys dunk, make layups, get offensive rebounds, and score easily inside. He isnt a center. He either needs to improve his three to jeff green levels where you punt on shot blocking because of a stretch 5 advantage on offense or you need to move him to F which is his real skillset.

Also... what an awful breakdown. the highlight his "pick and roll defense" which includes standing still as he swtiches and watches fox lose his dribble into irvings lap. they make it out like he came out hard and tight on the switch, forced fox to back peddle then kept him from getting in the paint with lateral quickness. im not even knocking Claxtons pick and roll D... i think switching on smalls is something he do pretty well,.... but their example is horrid and them pretending he had some huge impact there is absurd homerism. given the source, not surprising

Bruce Brown balled out last night. He and Harden has built up a nice rapport he’s always looking for Brown. Kyrie didn’t shoot well but Brown’s play made up for it. I didn’t realize Shamet got hurt I hope he’s okay. Nice to see Claxton back I hope he sticks in the rotation. Jordan played really well he was blocking shots, running the floor and playing with energy. Like someone said this is a game we lose early in the season.

All this after one game  . At least admitted he's quick enough to play guards on a perimeter. You and BK man  . All this after one game.
Nic had tough time getting PT because Kenny don't believe in rookies like that. Remember Allen during his first year, yeah right.
DJ will not provide effort games like last night consistently and you know that. 34 yo Jeff surprised us all and hope he'll keep it up. However if you guys think Marks will get any legit 4-5 during buy out or trade deadline let me put your hopes to rest. We have no assets to speak of or cap space. No legit rotation player will look to come here.

We don't have a good sample size to make any judgments about what Nic can or cannot provide this team right now. That was his 14th game in the NBA and the first floor action he has seen in a year. Everyone needs to be patient to see what role he carves out for himself here.

I think we can make judgements with him the same way we can with perry. he is young hasnt played and who knows, but as of now he certainly is not an NBA center in the rotation for a contender. he fills in that "cant be worse then perry/pelle" category but we need someone like mcgee so he can go back to being in street clothes and doing celebrations on the bench when we hit a 3.

Nic hasn't played in a game for about a year, so he'll need time to find a groove.

This is going to require patience. I believe he can help off the bench when he gets into the flow.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
