Yeah seemed like once the oline broke down wentz started seeing ghosts and it broke him a bit. If he can be fixed behind that oline could end up a great deal for Indi.M-C-G wrote:RRyder823 wrote:I dunno. I kinda like having the 3 best QBs in the division. I don't watch Philly often, but as far as I could tell he had no WR, no offensive line and his back up TE was the number one receiving option until a UDFA plucked off the street had three really good games.
I think on top of reuniting with Reich, this is about as good a situation as he could have landed in, if he is going to reboot his career.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Giving up a haul (financially or draft capital) for a mediocre-at-best QB is the new franchise crippling move. Apparently that 2nd has a pretty good chance of being a 1st-rounder so yeah, I'd consider a likely 1st and a 3rd rounder is way too much to give up for the right to pay that horrid contract to a guy who was statistically a bottom-3 starter in the NFL last season. Philly did incredibly well to get out of that albatross.

I don’t want to be in the business of backing Wentz is good, because I have no idea. My point is that roster was epically injured and I am not going to make too much of how he did this last season.

Honestly surprised he got more than a 3rd. Terrible deal for the Colts. I guess the silver lining is that he is in good spot for success and he has been at least a good QB in his career.

I wouldn’t be surprised but you also can’t tell. So many of these “next big thing” young QBs flame out after a couple years. Makes you appreciate Rodgers all the more.
It also makes me re-think some of the criticisms I’ve made about the Packers org and how they’ve built around Rodgers over the years. For the most part, they put a reasonably competitive (but not great) team around him. So many QBs don’t get that, and you wonder: could have some of them had careers more like Rodgers if the teams (esp O-lines) around them were better? Could Rodgers’ career have looked much worse had he played for a different team? What, really, is the difference between Rodgers and a QB one tier down from him who played for a less-consistent organization (like Stafford for example)? Or maybe Wentz when alls said and done?

For most of the guys that had flashes of greatness, like Wentz, Goff, etc., if Rodgers had the same team around him for that year, I think he'd outperform them significantly. I think he's so much better than anyone outside of Mahomes. Imagine if he had LaFleur's offense in 2011, with the same WR talent. That'd be some video game stuff.
I think MM was an average coach, and (hot take) TT was an average/above-average GM who made monstrously great decisions in 2005 and 2008, which then lifted the perception of their performances as a whole.
I often hear about the diamonds in the rough he was able to pick up, but every average GM has some finds later in the draft. He still had some significant misses like Harrison Smith, TJ Watt, Lavonte David, Judon, Tyreek Hill, etc. And he completely ignored the position if he missed on the draft pick (like McMillian making way for MD Jennings).
The only reason he wasn't fired sooner was because Rodgers carried the team to acceptable records.

Who's asking for a 17th game?
I've not heard players or fans asking for it. How does this help player safety?

The NFL: We care about the safety and long term well being of our players.
Fans: So what are you going to do about it?
The NFL: Add another game to the schedule!!
The NFL should be adding a 2nd bye week to each to team, not another game. The NFL is so full of ****.

I hate the added game, I don't care that they are reducing the preseason to 3 (should be 2). Right now the schedule is perfectly symmetrical. Let's face it, within a couple of years it will be 18 games. Ridiculous.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Daily reminder that Mr. Clown Commissioner doesn't give two **** about "player safety" and it's all just lip-service. At some point when the pandemic is over and people have other things to do besides watch sports, my hope is that the ratings suffer enough for the pro sports leagues to finally realize that there's a breaking point to corporate greed and hypocrisy with fans not being satisfied with whatever garbage product they keep churning out. One can dream...

A second bye week is a great compromise too.
Hey, the NFL added a bye week so you can rest your bodies more, and oh by the way, we are selectively scheduling those byes to alleviate some of the schedule around your Thursday night games.

They will use the unbalanced schedule as the reason they need the 18th game. '17 games is causing too many problems, hey, I know, let's just add one more game, that will fix everything'

Make it 82! They can play twice per week for sure.

Re: ATL Offseason - Wentz to the Colts
Russell Wilson wants to play for Bears, Saints, Cowboys, or Raiders?
Why?
Saints don't have cap room and the other three teams are trash. Some players are just never happy.

I'm laughing at Watson's tweet about loyalty while simultaneously crying to be traded to specific teams.
Does he really think he should've had input into the hiring decisions? If so, that's a bit of a red flag.

I agree in general, but trying to figure out what the hell is going on in Houston is pretty crazy.
That said, Elon Musk thinks we live in a simulation, it would appear the coding in the simulation was trip the code 'unhappy star QB code activate in 2021'
