I get the frustration, some of these losses have been brutal, but anyone expecting this team to be ECF level good this year, or that we'd get off to a good start was way off base. That was clear when we lost Hayward and even more so when we found out Kemba would be out for the start of the season.
As I keep saying, we need to maximize the team 2-3 years from now. That's when one of Jaylen/Jayson could possibly get to an MVP level and when they need to decide to stay or go.
The thompson and Teague signings have sucked, but they aren't all that consequential other than the opportunity cost. I'd have rather gone after guys like Giles that could fit the Jaylen/Jayson timeline, but targeting young guys with the mle is a crapshoot at best.
If Ainge Brad deserve criticism it's for mismanaging the Hayward/Irving/Horford situations. Losing all them for 0 shows a major inability to maximize expiring assets, which is odd because it has previously been something Ainge was very good at. My guess is that Brad may not be so great at passing along the temperature of players in the locker room and foreseeing these departures.
"Danny Ainge needs to shut the **** up and manage his own team. He was the biggest whiner when he was playing, and I know that because I coached against him."
