Lowry isn't worth a single valuable asset IMO.

Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards

You guys are doing the Danny ainge thing where you convince yourself that the available good player is actually bad.

Unless they are confident in Maxey becoming a future all star (in which case play him?) or think Lowry is damaged goods (he had 24/8/7/2 against the Heat last night) it’s a move worth making imo.

Only value you getting from me is Tobias for Lowry. Korkmaz included.

Why would we want Myles Turner for a guy that's leaving when we can just sign Tristan Thompson and get the same results?

We here wanting CJ because we know the importance of a shot making 20ppg scorer and the Blazers dont?

And if Blazers trade CJ for Tobi, what does it accomplish for the Blazers?

The only way CJ lands here is there’s a difference in value system where Blazers opts to rebuild so they’d just ask for expiring, shake and maxey. Or maybe a pick, shake or maxey. Something in that line of thought.

Then what? Play CJ for this season.

By offseason, ship CJ and multiple picks for a bigger upgrade like Beal?

Possible?

Because they already have a 30 ppg guard. They need more versatility. Lillard and CJ are too similar. A lot of times they get diminishing returns between those two. It's not the first time it happens, so maybe they finnally want to trade CJ.

That's the only chance, not saying it will happen, but it's somewhat realistic.

Not seeing them rebuilding with Dame on his prime. And Dame doesn't seem like the kind of dude that asks for a trade.

Maxey won't be an allstar in all likelihood, but he's a pretty safe bet to be an all-level creator with eventual three point range that can play both on and off the ball. He's going to be incredibly good and valuable to us in the next 2-3 years.

I do not feel compelled to lose him plus picks for a tiny old meatball like Lowry, regardless of how good Lowry is and how good we'd be with Lowry.

Like I said, if Lowry wants to be a Sixer that badly and truly cares about helping the team while he's here, put your money where you mouth is and negotiate a buyout from Toronto. Recoup that money on your extension with us.

I agree but either is Maxey or the 2021 first round pick, not both.
Plus expirings.

We'll be short of a wing after trading D.Green, imho

18, 6.5 ast, 5.5 reb, 1.2 stls, .610 TS.... Good defender, steady hand late in game that's a good free throw shooter, volume 3 point shooter (3.4 pull up attempts per at 40.2% this year - as a team we take 5.8 - last in the league).

Multiple time all star, nba champion, local ties...

And people don't want that because he's older and Tyrese Maxey scored 39 that one time in a blowout where he got to take 33 shots?

Sure, that's one factor. Also....

- cost of acquisition
- status as an expiring contract
- burden of matching salaries through trade
- durability concerns based on his diminutive stature and physical conditioning in conjunction with his age

Let's not pretend that there's not an extremely strong argument that suggests trading for Lowry would be an incredibly dumb, short-sighted, Colangelo-like move. Whatever happened to lamenting pissing away assets?

He makes a lot of money and he's old. No arguments there.

I'm not saying there isn't a limit to what we should be willing to give up. Why anyone would completely shut down the idea of acquiring a player of his level that fits to the extent he does is what's beyond me. If we were still in the rebuilding years, sure. But this team currently sits at the top of the standings in the conference in a year where there's no team standing head and shoulders above them. Lowry's a good enough player to legitimately increase your championship odds.

Danny Green's contract makes any of this a possibility

I think this is the correct vision.

I just don't understand why he thinks he will get another 30 million contract at his age, that just seems wishful thinking...

That makes it even worse. So not only do you have to lose a rookie contract creator and/or a 1st rounder, but you have to include a multi-time champion defensive player that can space the floor...all just to get in the ballpark of the trade, salary-wise. The ONLY defender on the roster that can consistently space the floor, BTW. The whole value aspect of a deal for Lowry sucks any way you slice it.

If we're putting Maxey and 1st rounders on the table, call up Chicago.

Danny Has not been particularly great as a defender this season, specially when he's guarding athletic wings. Booker and Fox for example made him look like J.J. Redick.

Not his fault and mostly an effect of age but this is gonna be an issue on the Playoffs, specially if he start to miss his 3's

But Lowry's probably a better defender (particularly against small guards) and definitely a better shooter than Danny.

I think it's a lot of endowment effect going on in here. Danny is objectively valuable, but Lowry is that ten fold. Lowry is an actual engine and a generator of offense. Lowry would be the only player on this roster that could improve Embiid's ability to take over games and would gift him continual looks that aren't him hitting tough shots out of the triple threat. If the cost is Maxey + Green to get Lowry I'm doing that every single day. Sign Wayne Ellington or something off the buyout market and this team is clearly better.
