Game thread 9/14 vs. Red Sox

Post#1 » by HCYanks » Fri Sep 14, 2007 10:09 pm

Andy Pettitte (13-8, 3.78 ERA, 4.37 xFIP) vs. Daisuke Matsuzaka (14-12, 4.44 ERA, 4.39 xFIP)

(I added in each pitcher's xFIP just to irk 34Celtic. Yes, I am a jerk.)

Tonight's probably our best shot at a win with Dice-K having hit a wall recently. Let's have a nice discussion and the first one to make a reactionary post buys beer for the whole class.

How do you not score that inning. They literally tried to give the Yanks runs. :nonono:

Beaning ARod? I don't think it was... Dice-K seems to be having control problems with his offspeed pitches.

I don't trust Dice-K, I don't know if he was gunning but he absolutely wanted to get it real close. However, his control was terrible and his fastball is straight and 88-90. He has to get hit hard. -Jitpal

Holy crap, can Jeter do anything right tonight? Bad throw and then he bobbles a sure inning-ending double play. -Jitpal

His very next pitch was a fastball high and tight to induce a pop-up. You also don't throw in retaliation with a 2-2 count in the first inning. If you're looking for retaliation, wait for the Sox to be up/down by like 4 runs and with two outs in the inning, someone's going to get hit. That will be the retaliation. This first inning was just Dice-K's less than stellar control on display for the world. mahalo
