Tried to tell ya'll Richardson's defense was trash. He was such a bad defender for us.

Yeah, rough numbers, we are already guaranteed in the $116 million range with Embiid, Simmons, Tobias, Shake, Maxey, Seth, Matisse, and Joe. Very good chance Josh Harris caps us in the 130-135 range. I’m sure we will add six or seven guys on minimum and rookie contracts, but may only have about $10 million to grab another starter. Tobias, Embiid, and Ben take us 75% to luxury tax threshold.

So we'd have to trade Tobias, Maxey and a pick.
Why are we even considering it? That's bonkers.

Scott, Ferguson, Green, and NYK 2nd for Ross and Aminu
Basically a lateral move, but locks in the salary slots for next year

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread: 2020 Offseason
I think Ross is a downgrade from Green, from a skillset's perspective. Green is a far more consistent defender and a far more consistent shooter.
We'd basically be paying a 2nd rounder for fake scoring production. Ross can't create so it's not like he offers any more scoring ability that Korkmaz and Curry already provide us.

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread: 2020 Offseason
It's a shame Elfrid Payton is having such a down year, defensively.
With the influx of Gs in New York, he'd be easy to acquire. Good creator, solid passer, traditionally a defender (not this year, though).
I'm afraid he'd be a bad addition based on having no defense combined with no shooting, though. I wonder if he's been dealing with injuries all year or something.

Scott, Ferguson, Poirier, and 2021 1st
For
Delon Wright, Wayne Ellington and Pistons 2021 2nd round pick
The pick swap ends up being a 5-8 pick trade back and we have Wright next year as well.
Trade 2 future 2nd’s and use trade exception to absorb Bjelica
Adding Wright, Ellington and Bjelica isn’t sexy work but it’s 3 solid rotation players we sorely lack without giving up anyone currently important to the rotation.

Biid and Ben is a good pair (who doesnt pair well with Biid?) but Biid and ingram would have been a much better pairing IMO.
You get two guys who can shoot over anyone and two guys who can rotate to protect the rim.
But unless its a three way, I dont see it happening. Think about it from the Pels perspective, Lonzo, Ben and Zion is not a good fit.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread: 2020 Offseason
Curry/Bradley for Mills
Green/ Ferguson for Fournier
Still leaves Kork/Poirer/Scott/Philly2nd for a defensive 3+D and 4/5 spacer.
Thybulle/Maxey/Reed/Tucker/Joe/Philly 1st/NY 2nd should all be retained unless for a big upgrade.
Jo / Ben / Tobi / Shake / Howard best to not trade as this stage.
Shake and either Thybulle or Fournier (depends matchup) to start
Mills 25/30 mins leads bench - big upgrade in ball handling/speed and quick shooting over Curry.
Both Fournier and Mills are proven closers at reasonable value.

As elite as Ingram is as an offensive player, he offers nothing on the defensive end other than the occasional recovery block or closeout. The Pelicans have the 29th ranked defense and are below .500 despite all of their talent (vet and young).
Zion was an elite defensive prospect who has been a really bad defender at the NBA level. Perhaps they view Simmons as a guy who can rub off on and fix Zion, defensively. If Zion's poor defense concerns them enough, they may overlook offensive fit issues between the two as building blocks and view the pairing favorably.

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread: 2020 Offseason
I’d be firmly looking at Oladipo/Derozan.
Lowry too if it is ever avaliable.
Can’t see us getting Lavine/Beal
Either way it’s going to be the same old thing in the playoffs (1 seeds our only chance doubt that will probably be 3rd seed. But there’s too many questions marks still).

Agreed. The first group consists of "gettable" short-term options, while LaVine/Beal are who we should be storing assets to acquire long-term. In my eyes, LaVine is the ideal 3rd star next to Simmons/Embiid.

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread: 2020 Offseason
Sixers 2021 first round pick (projected 27) + Matisse Thybulle
for
Cavs 2021 second round pick (projected 33) + Nickeil Walker
Why for the Sixers? We double up our development rookie contract creators between Walker and Maxey, thus pushing the timeline for true title contention up a little bit. 2022-2023 looks like we'd be primed to dominate.
