Every team develops an identity through their coach. That’s why we have no identity.

I take that back, we are soft and lack attention to detail just like our coach. (Uniforms..really, Lloyd didn’t notice)

The coach just sucks.
Non Hawk fans are realizing how poorly coached the team is now that Trea isn't making an effort to go to the free throw line.

Unfortunately Trae is the ONLY player with the ability to drive the ball consistently and get a freethrow. Last season we needed capable ballhandlers, well we still do.

If a change is to be made, the All Star Break is the time to do it.

My guy @jamallo is so giddy about firing the coach. Once another dude is hired, he'll give 'im what 6 months until he calls for his firing?

^I have refrained from advocating for a change. I hope we wait until the offseason to reevaluate everything.

Truth is, this was always the most likely for outcome.

LP hasn't just been bad, he's been terrible. As others have said, where is the identity. Do we ever play tough D....? The offense is pretty good and has massive potential but teams know how to shut it down in crunch time. Let Nate finish the season. LP can go back to being an assistant. That's his level

I believe we'll wait, but I would like to see it happen now, so we can see how the team performs under Nate.

Lloyd Pierce on Hawks’ struggles, his future and accepting blame

Image

Lloyd Pierce, the Hawks’ coach, has been catching a lot of heat. He has a job today, but that can change at any time. He’s in the final guaranteed season of his contract, and the Hawks have yet to exercise the 2021-22 option (which has a minimum buyout). Pierce understands the situation, and he’s fine with it. This is what coaches sign up for. No excuses.

“It’s always going to fall on me,” Lloyd told The Athletic on Thursday night. “That’s part of sports. I’m glad it falls on me because it won’t shake me one bit.”

”Travis is going to fire me one day. And do you know what I’m going to say? The guy gave me a great opportunity in life. Do you think I’m going to be pissed? He’s damn near my best friend. I’m eternally thankful for his belief in me, and ultimately the decisions he has to make are always going to be about the organization, but I’m eternally grateful for the belief and the confidence that he has had in me. That’s the beauty of this. That’s why there’s no pressure or stress. I have a job to fulfill. I have to hold all the responsibilities and standards towards me, and I understand that. That’s the job.”

“I’d love to be the next Pop (Gregg Popovich). We all would. The reality is it’s very rare. You take these opportunities because they’re limited, and you take the pressure that comes with these opportunities. You’re a competitor, and you’ll be pissed. But I don’t worry about it, and I don’t hide from it because it’s the reality. Travis is my guy. I’m eternally grateful for that.”

“...as a coach, I’ll take all the blame. I’ve made mistakes. But the mistakes I’ve made I feel confident about.”

What does that even mean?

The way things are going, maybe he should finish the season as the tank commander

Lloyd GENUINELY seems like such a kind man. May have been his downfall as an NBA head coach. Cutthroat out here.

With that being said, the Hawks have looked MAD lifeless since that Collins/Trae thing came out/leaked out. That NEVER should have been a story or gotten out. Family business. SMH

Hasn't looked like the team has been playing for Lloyd, and Trae's body language says it all. He looks disinterested. Again...NOT saying that is the right thing, however when it comes to siding with Trae or Lloyd...a pretty easy decision for upper management to make.

That is Bush League...very unprofessional. This should have happened either before the roadtrip or after.

It makes little sense to do this 3 days before the AS Break. Either fire the dude before he heads out on the team flight...or wait until we get back to Atlanta. Geesh. :nonono:

Bush league handling coming back to bite them. It's what I've said all along. Do Suns/Kings/Twolves things, get a Suns/Kings/Twolves organization.

Ask yourself which successful organization handles things the way we just did? Then ask yourself which organizations do handle things poorly?

Which room are we now in?

Congrats?

so happy right now! Did not expect this so soon.

I read a graphic that we were 6-15 in games that were within 5 points in the 4th quarter. That's all you need to know when looking for a reason to fire this bum. Injuries were awful, but that stat shows we still have a good enough team to win games, we just don't have a team that knows how to win close games. That is directly related to two things, our coach and our youth. And you can't fire youth.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
