Guys, no one will want WCJ at his current value. There is no free lunch in this world. Frustration aside, needa be logical here.
Something gotta give to get value back. Why would you as the opposition GM want him knowing his current situation?

Re: NBA Trade Thread # 3
I think Barnes would be a really good get. He is an ironman, can play and defend the 3/4, can shoot from distance. He would also provide an insurance in case we don't resign Lauri. If we resign him on a reasonable deal, it is still good, we finally have some depth in the wings.
The issue is we have even more weakness at PG and C and not much capital.
That said since I don't see much valuable FA this summer, If we are buyers at the deadline, I think it is better if we try to take on some salary this year and sign Lauri this summer.
Otherwise go in the opposite direction, get worse by trading veterans and go for the lottery. I would feel bad for Zach, and i believe it increase his chances to bolt.

WCJ and OPJ as a starting package for Drummond. Figure the rest out. We need a big damn dude in the middle to at least cause some intimidation. WCJ ain't scaring no one. They see free cheese. Drummond, he's a scary dude and a 20/20 threat every night.

If we buy into the Lonzo hype (which I am inclined to do) with his current play is a Lonzo Zach backcourt worth the investment...imagge wrote:Lonzo is playing himself into a huge contract....seems to be proven what he can be in the NBA

Yes but if he keeps playing like this NO maybe more inclined to match offers and trade Kira....which lo key maybe even better for the Bulls

Bamba at least has upside if you squint.

I think ORL would be crazy not to trade Vuc, given his age and production. They might get a nice haul...heck the Bulls should offer something nice. In that case I doubt Bamba goes anywhere. I have watched Bamba only a couple times this season and while he isn't the passer and pick setter Carter is, he's is a much better rim protector and more skilled post scorer than Carter. I'd love to trade for him. We'd get a half season to see if we want to try to sign him, and another whole season to see if we would want to match his offer as a RFA.

Bamba is fine as a target but it would be dumb to trade for him now to try to salvage him with his impending RFA. Congrats, now you get to pay Bamba a big contract!
Instead, I think you just be patient and keep an eye on Bamba for years down the road.

He's not an RFA until after 2021-22 season. I'd happy to have 1.5 years and 2 option periods to get a good look before paying him. Besides, he's not the sort of C that will likely command much more than the MLE type $ these days.

Then why are we interested at all if he's an MLE center?
Seems like a waste of time in that case.

I would love not to spend too much cap on the C position, but get an average offensive C who has potential to be a very good rim protector.

I don't see it. Sure, he can protect the rim, but he isn't mobile or smart enough to be a really good defender overall. On offense, he would have to become a really good shooter to be good because his lack of mobility and effort also hurts him there. His awareness is bad on both ends. He'll be the league for a long time based on draft position and his insane measurements, but I don't think he has the potential to be a difference-making big.
If the Magic want to dump his salary, sure, why not. But I'm not giving up actual assets for him.

I don't really disagree with any of that.
But WCJ's status as an "actual asset" is under probation. There are certain team set-ups where I can see him performing quite well as a starting 5. But the same can be said of many MLE centers.

I definitely agree with that. Just wanted to say that I think there's little to no reason to believe Bamba is a better prospect, let alone that he is the long-term solution at center. You just add another lottery pick who really isn't all that good.

I think a WCJ and Mo Bamba swap makes sense for both teams, but is highly unlikely that it actually happens.
WCJ could back up Vucevic and then slide over to power forward like he’s always wanted. Bulls need to swing for the fences and Bamba has tools that cannot be taught.

Yeah, Ball is not someone we'll be able to get via trade or FA now. Not that we ever really had a chance. Too bad.

Re: NBA Trade Thread # 3
I don't think the Bulls will make any kind of trade above swapping end of the bench guys, certainly not the constant barrage of blockbusters some people are infatuated with posting. If they're bringing Dotson back up, after sending him down to get playing time, I wonder if Arci isn't part of a deal because he doesn't get many minutes so the rookie behind him just gets to wave a towel.
At this point I doubt they can trade their most likely assets. If they don't plan to give Markkanen a big new contract they might as well move him, but being injured with no return date makes that difficult. A healthy Porter could bring back 2-3 serviceable players or a veteran from a tanking team with a couple of years left on his contract in exchange for Otto's expiring deal. But again teams don't want get a guy with no recovery date. Carter isn't as bad as the one game evaluators imagine, his problem is being up and down, and he's at the point in his career where he should be over that.
But listening to AK, I think he knows it's unlikely he can trade injured players and there's no point making moves just to get different players this year. If he can't get picks or players who figure to contribute for the next two years there's no point making a deadline move when he's going to have way more options during the off season.
I'm for keeping both Satoransky and Young next year and beyond instead of looking for bench vets every year. Think about how many teams have traded for or signed Lou Williams, Jamal Crawford or Kyke Korver and others over the past 20 years. They were happy playing their roles off the bench, didn't dream of starting or getting the max deal at age 33. Well you've got two guys like them, keep them and build the rotation above them.
