The idea of picking up Ersan does nothing for me.

Yea, I don't think it does much for anyone. But we currently only have 3 competent bigs. If one goes down you're really really thin and all of a sudden have DJW or Thanasis playing way too many mins. Some kind of big/4 is going to be added at some point. He's as cheap and easy as it comes. Hopefully they can find better though and maybe in the process can clear out DJA's contract.

No worries, we already have our big.

Spoiler:
Good point. All for giving him a run. I think the bubble ends in a few days, get him up and some solids mins right away after ASB while he's in rhythm and see what happens. If it hits then yes that current need is gone and can look for other moves. This is the type of thing we all said we'd be ok with experimenting in regular season. Can also be fairly confident based on his UVA background that he's going to have a really sound grasp of team D. Bucks are gonna need to hit on a guy like this imo in the next few years to change their current trajectory of just not quite good enough.

I want a center or a guard who can get a bucket, NOT Ersan. Javale McGee, Dewayne Dedmon, Demarcus Cousins, Kyle O'Quinn, Shabazz Napier, Alonzo Trier, hell I'd even give Brandon Knight a look. We'll obviously be adding Diakite as well.

Yeah cause what we need is another guard who can't guard to save his life.

I'm all for giving Diakite run but I'm going to temper my enthusiasm that it will actually happen. More likely we get some big off the scrap heap like Jordan Bell, Ersan, or Tolliver.

I've got ocean front property to sell you in Nevada if you think bringing in an offensively inept defensive guard will provide anything for this team in the playoffs (because that's what you're going to get). People wouldn't hate DJ Augustin so much if he was actually doing what he was supposed to do by providing this skill, but he isn't. This defense isn't improved with defense in the backcourt. It's improved in the frontcourt. The more options we have at our disposal for shot creation in the playoffs the better.

Would that be The most different times playing for a team in league history if we brought back Ersan? Sign me up!

I'd really like to pry Garrett Temple away from Chicago, a DJW swap for Temple might be enough, not sure how much demand there will be for him. But, he could be a steady hand and insurance for our guard group. Can play both spots, good defender, shooter, smart veteran.

Nailed it! Hitting on either Nwora or Merrill will also help a lot

He’d be great. A challenge we will have is that with the revised playoff format and Covid, I’d doubt many teams will be willing to give up guys, unless they are being really compensated for it. Bulls may feel they can still make a playoff appearance here.

I'll settle for Ersan showing Diakite the warlock ways if we can't get a good ring chaser type.

Any and all Brook trades for me are still DOA until we adequately answer the question "who are you replacing him with?"
If the answer is still some form of, "Giannis/Portis can handle it" or "Luke Kornet/buy-out veteran", then sorry, we're way worse off. Back-up PG/SG is still this team's biggest weakness that needs addressing, and I don't think it's even close. Brook still works defensively for 20-25 minutes a night so long as you have perimeter bench players that aren't absolute turnstiles on defense.

Fair. I would guess a better cheap guy is available than you're implying, but I still think your overall point is right. I mainly comment to the next few years though and Brooks contract getting cleared. I think I asked this in the last few days to the cap experts but didn't see an answer. In general, if we cleared Brook's contract now (assuming we get back expirings) would that be good for our flex in the offseason? As in, can we use the exceptions, some kind of space, space to operate without paying tax, etc? Or, would we be better off having Brook's contract to work with in the offseason?
As you say, I'd guess whatever trade we do now probably makes them a bit worse right now unless you get luck in the big guy Brook replacement or say Diakite is good or something. But since I don't think they have a shot this year anyway, would such a trade be a help for next year?

With Portis and Holiday opting out, we'll have the full MLE at our disposal though that MLE would have to be used prior to any deal being made with Holiday. If Jrue is extended, and Portis opts out as expected, dumping Lopez would give us the opportunity to use the Full MLE. Augustin miiiiiiiight, but I wouldn't count on it.

Honestly, I think you see Patty C for his usual 20ish minutes in the playoffs, and DJA gets sent to the shadow realm (or only plays vs specific matchups), with Giannis, Jrue and Midd's picking up his extra minutes.
Amos Barshad: "So you got a job, a place to live, a license? What’s left?"
Giannis: “Nothing. Just get a ring now.”

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions - No Politics
I really have no feel for who's going to get bought out. Most of these teams probably think they've got a chance. Drummond is the big candidate, but I feel like Griffin would have to give back a ton of cash to get free and I don't see that happening.
Orlando should have some guys but they will chase that 10th seed to the death.
Looking at expiring vets on bad teams: Ed Davis, PJ Tucker, Jabari, Ariza, Darius Miller, Muscala, Ish, Rolo, Ellington. Pretty underwhelming.

Whatever big we end up getting, hopefully they are quick enough to switch on defense because that looked like a real option down the stretch of that Clipper game. I'm all for day dreaming about Diakite stepping in and being everything we need from the Center spot, but I don't have faith in Bud playing him and I'm tempering expectations that he'll be as electric as he is in the bubble.
