Re: Devin Booker - king of empty stats?
I mean book scores, but I dont think even the staunch suns fan will say he brings much more beyond the stat sheet. He doesnt really bend the defense, cause prerotations or have some insane gravity. Hes an average defender.
empty stat guy isnt the right term, but he brings exactly what his stat sheet says, which is a lot, but nothing more like a harden does, when he makes you play a wacky defense to stop him, or a zion(booker is a better player) who forces you to play him with a non traditional matchup, or a like kemba who brings one extremely powerful skill to the table.
Book is still a top 25 player I think

Eh he is pretty good - I think he is a better passer/playmaker than he gets credit for and obviously one of the best pure shooters in the league, can get his shot off from anywhere. He's still young also, have to give these guys some time to develop.

Booker is an average defender, which is much more than he was early in his career. The "doesn't really bend the defense" is an extremely lazy take, and again... someone who clearly doesn't watch the Suns play.
Theres a bunch of casuals who just think "oh CP3 goes to Phoenix, its all CP3"... Which is NOT accurate at all if you've followed this team's progression under Monty starting last season, when they actually played really well, before Ayton got hit with the suspension.

He not only scores but has become a playmaker as well when he has to be.

calling people casual for disagreeing isnt really a great either. I just dont think teams bring a lot of help on him unless he has a mismatch and is posting up smaller twos, he doesnt really cleanly beat guys in the way a guy like mitchell does for example. like i would hazzard a guess and say hes taking probably more than double the amount of 2s from beyond 8 feet than he is from inside of 8 feet. That doesnt make him less good, it just means the defense knows prerotating or sending help early isnt really going to do all that much. hes killing it this year at that inbetween range. he looks just as good as the best stars in the midrange and post if not better.

Saying that teams "don't bring a lot of help on him" outs you as a casual because saying that invalidates any other opinion you have on Booker.
I don't know how anyone makes that statement if they've watched every Suns game this year.

You really don’t watch phx do you? Book is the best three level scorer since KD.
Here’s a couple highlights from last game.

There are more than 25 players in this game that draw more attention because of the pressure they apply on teams at the rim or at the 3 point line. you can watch any 30 point game of him this season, you can look at the stats. Booker is very good arguably the best in the league at scoring in ways that opposing teams are attempting to force teams into. Thats valuable and I hope to see him continue it in the playoffs. Theres statistical evidence to what i'm saying, theres filmic evidence as well.
;ab_channel=NFClassic
1:26 is an example of what I mean the biggest threats in the league force teams to leave people wide open before they even make their move.
in comparison,
;ab_channel=NFClassic
3:10 they rotate on the move to the baseline, they get the basket, but that was due to a mistake, not an intentional act like in the case of zion. Not saying zion is a better scorer, hes not. Thats the next step for devin to being a superstar high level impact guy like harden

Among the 50 players with the most points in the clutch this season, Booker is 46th in FG% with 33% and 36th in 3P% with 25% among the 48 in that group who have taken a clutch 3.
Last season he was 30th in FG% and 40th in 3P% among the 49 who took a 3

Booker just won 2 player of the week awards in the same month, most likely gonna be the player of the month and led his team a 12-4 record.

Re: Devin Booker - king of empty stats?
I might be a little biased but I have also watched every game he has played in the league. I can't believe I'm saying this but I agree with Bron. Book is the most disrespected player in the league.
His offense is top of the line elite. He has the best mid range game in the league and his post offense is actually elite for a guard. His shooting has been a little up and down this season but he's still deadly at any range. His passing is extremely underrated. His defense is much better than in years past. The Suns have been great defensively and Book contributes to that great team defense more than you would ever know unless you watch them every night out.
These threads are funny. Booker is currently ripping up every coach who may have voted him out of the ASG and he isn't going to stop. He's averaging 28pts a game since coming back from injury. His team went 12-3 in February. These aren't empty stats nor were they in the bubble.

I thought that empty stats meant inefficiency. Booker is a pretty efficient player.

Looking from outside, I'd say 1a/1b situation, but CP3 playing leader role.

Re: Devin Booker - king of empty stats?
Empty stats ALWAYS referred to a guy with huge counting stats but no efficiency.
You cannot have empty stats if you are scoring efficiently on high volume. That is the definition of being EFFECTIVE.
