He had a slow start, but in February he is averaging 20PPG shooting 50.2% FG% & 43% 3P%. He’s already a solid defensive player with elite physical tools.
Thoughts on this line up?
Coby White / Tomas Satoransky
Zach LaVine / Garrett Temple
Kelly Oubre / Patrick Williams
Patrick Williams / Thaddeus Young
Lauri Markkanen / Wendell Carter Jr.
It feels like a more modern era NBA team.
Patrick Williams is a not PF. That frontcourt would get destroyed.
Wait, Lauri is listed at C there, and you focused on PWill is not a PF?

I realize this line up is unusual but I thought it would lead to an interesting discussion. Obviously Wendell Carter Jr. could still start at center if the experiment failed, but I do think the lineup creates a lot of mismatches.
First, Patrick Williams has been playing power forward a lot since Markkanen went down, so it isn’t an unusual concept. He’s clearly proven that he can handle the small forward role, but he would be even more dynamic as a power forward where he wouldn’t have a problem blowing past guys off the dribble.
Second, I totally understand questioning Markkanen at center too. I was imagining the Bulls signing Lonzo Ball in the offseason, which would give the Bulls 3 really solid defensive players (Oubre, Lonzo, & Williams) which would help mask some of the issues on the defensive end.
