This actually happened in 1984. He had a deal lined up where he would trade himself to the Lakers for Magic, but the Lakers also asked for Greg Kite and he told them to go **** themselves and hung up.

I thought it was widely known that Kobe's camp put out a memo to the league (before the draft) that he wouldn't sign with any team not named the Lakers. That's why Calapari and the Nets passed on him at 8th overall.

Sounds like Ainge is talking out of his ass.

Ainge has legit become a laughingstock. It’s sad honestly.

When Ainge was the HC Colangelo also nearly traded KJ, Wesley Person and Danny Manning for Scottie Pippen in the summer of 97’. They were going to extend him and have a big-3 of Kidd-Pippen-McDyess. It probably was a blessing for both teams that it didn’t go through.

Everyone knows about Shaq but low key Danny Ainge might be the second most insecure man in basketball. Maybe he's hoping nobody will realize he got gifted an ATG player by his buddy McHale and spent the next decade just slowly eroding and wasting all the assets that one single buddy buddy move got him. Was probably a fun ride though

Ainge also wanted to buy the powerball numbers, but decided to leave the money for someone else.

Next were gonna hear about how Danny Ainge could turn water into wine.

Pat Riley summed up Danny Ainge perfectly:

Hardly the first time the Lakers had the last laugh.

During the spring of 1975 Danny Ainge almost convinced Kareem to leave the Bucks to join his high school squad.

If anything these stories illustrate how Ainge refuses to throw in the extra asset to get the guys he wants

Tatum is pretty much Kobe and he's still only 21 so looks like Ainge got the last laugh.

Truly stunning how Ainge has "tried" to get all of these elite players and ended up with NONE.

Dallas needs Ainge badly. Donnie has overstayed his welcome, should have left right after 2011.
