Gersson Rosas - In or Out?!
Gersson Rosas should be on the hot seat regardless of what happens the rest of the year. Trading Dario Saric & the 11th pick for Jarrett Culver. Taking Anthony Edwards over Lamelo Ball. Two huge misses and back breaking for the Minnesota Timberwolves Franchise.
Add in signing Juancho, trading a 1st and Wiggins for DLo, this horrible Houston Rockets philosophy of nothing but 3’s. Nothing has worked. The Wolves are by far the worst team in the NBA. Offense and defense sucks.
Doogie said Finch signed a 2 year deal with a 3rd year team option with to match up with Gersson’s contract. They are tied together at the hip.
Do you still believe in the Prosas?

If he only didn't bank his whole process on D' Lo, he might've been a competent GM

Option C, small ball is doomed, Rosas roster is fixable/salvageable with some trades. Also, age will help as we have a ton of young players and our core 3 are all under 26.

I said it back in September 2020 that Lamelo ball would be better than Anthony Edwards who is just a Wiggins clone.

Re: Gersson Rosas - In or Out?!
This team messed up trying to placate towns.
If there was one player, one guy who, on the court, brought winning, it was Butler.
Sure most people will remember the stink he made, but that’s because he knew what was what with the treatment to the young guys who hadn’t done squat. He sure as shizlebizle thought he was the one that should be the franchise.
After what I’ve seen since he left. I’d say I have to agree. Should have build around Butler and dumped the stat masters for vets who play their roles and know how to defend.

Finch didn't know how bad it was when he took this job.

It's maybe fixable if Rosas will get off this small ball, 12 guards roster plan he's aiming for.
Good things were the analytics of 3s and net finishing, positioning for rebounds. These are good.
Bad is his roster construction, player evaluations as to who can fit and play together to get their bests from them. I think we see the Gleague experience shining through with what some have said is his positive player finds around the fringes, undrafted, second round, late first. These are the types of players this crew managing this have come from and know. So it's positive they can find players like this. But they also need to know an apple from a potato at the top of drafts somehow and someone needs to have vision about how these players fit together or don't. Just asset collecting every consecutive season seems to lead to everyone losing value and that's not going to help you get better or more trades later.

Re: Gersson Rosas - In or Out?!
There's been a couple of decent finds and moves (Beasley and his contract, Naz Reid, McDaniels) but overall I'm pretty disappointed with where we're at after initially being quite hopeful.
I think that Rosas' core philosophy is the issue that's holding us back. The extreme small ball approach isn't going to work in Minnesota with the talent he has available and rather than attempt to pivot and build around our best pieces we seem to continue down this ideological rabbit hole.

If you look at what they are playing around with in Gleague it's more of the same.
9X guards, 1X 6-5 Forward and 1X 6-10 forward. I think when the gleague season was about to start I counted 10 guards at the time. Maybe that 6-5 kid listed as Forward now was counted as a Guard then by the web editor before the season.

100%. My fingers show scars to this day posting towards a hope they would at the time.

Re: Gersson Rosas - In or Out?!
I know it looks bad right now. There are a lot of extenuating circumstances that have made this season a cluster****. It's not all Rosas. It's not all the coaches. It's not all the players. It's a little bit of everything.
I'm not ready to say goodbye to him yet, but his leash is getting tighter.

He's lucky Minnesota still doesn't allow fans into the stadium. Glen might get tired of all the constant booing of his team and outright fire Rosas.
On another note, I don't think they'll be firing Rosas anytime soon. He just surrounded himself with new staff. I doubt Glen would pay for two different front offices with a sale looming soon.

Re: Gersson Rosas - In or Out?!
I am extremely disappointed with where the team is right now but I think we are past the point of no return. Rosas either figures this out or we have to rebuild all over again. I'm willing to give him more time. A year ago I was really happy with him, I'll see where he goes for the next year. What we have right now is truly awful though, at the very least I hope things look a lot better when Russell and Beasley are back.

Is this really happening? He has put out feelers so many times and backed out... I'm convinced he will never do it. Its just like a gambling addict continuing to believe that he can still win despite the odds stacked against him. I don't see him getting the boot anytime soon.

Your guess is just as good as mine is, I don't know as well. All I know is he put it on notice. It will be sold, but when will that be? Could be this year, next year or even after a decade, who knows?

Re: Gersson Rosas - In or Out?!
You have to give him the benefit of the doubt, don't you? He's only been 2 years on the job and hasn't quite yet turned around the roster completely, there are still as many as 2 players that were here before him. You can't work with your hands tied like that. Also he's only had a #1, #6, #23 and #28 pick to work with. That's no way to bring youth, excitement and potential to the franchise. And more importantly, he's only turned the (already Butler-less) 43.9% W-L team he inherited into a 29.7% W-L team in 2019-20 and 19.4% in 20-21 so far. After all this is only the 30th worst winning percentage ever in the history of the league, and he's only about to match (maybe surpass?) the franchise worst (18.3%, twice), so I think you need him to let the team fall a bit deeper and see if it bounces when it hits the absolute rock bottom. Newton's laws, amirite?
